I can give you an example. I was testing for my former company to learn how to use the stupid thing. I would pull in to fuel and when I pulled forward it would put me in driving mode. One customer you stopped at the office to get you pick tickets and then pull around back. That stupid thing would put me in driving mode again. This was after going on duty.
It would eventually switch me to on duty but I could not back it up. There are lots of time I would pull into the yard and do what I needed to do and forget to put myself in off duty or on duty not driving and there is no way to fix that.
With license plate readers installed at scales and states being tied together with times you roll through, there is no cheating on drive time. If it someone is going to cheat it will be on the load and unload times to save on the 14 hour and 70 hour clock, not the drive time clock..
Elog......maybe not

Many drivers under report the time they spend at shippers getting loaded because reporting that time burns up their 70. Having E-Logs doesn't change this since the device can't tell what the driver is doing. It can only tell what the truck is doing.railroadertrucking, Oxbow, not4hire and 2 others Thank this. -
Why do we even need all these "safety" regs? Look up real statistics. Trucks aren't to blame in most truck/4 wheeler accidents. Fatalities in relation to miles driven have been decreasing over recent years. Why do I even need to be regulated more? My record shows that I don't need to be watched by big brother. If I feel a power nap would do me good, how is it safer to force me not to take it? The rules we have now aren't preventing the really bad drivers and companies from operating. Look at the crash some time back in TN on I75 when that 'truck driver' plowed into stopped traffic. In KS when the dope head crossed over into oncoming traffic and killed a mother and her two children. Watch some of the big truck dash cam videos (here and on you tube). Do our job for a few years. Then try to justify your tech savvy wisdom!

Wait and see what happens with OOIDA going back to court with this, they are requesting the full court to hear the case, not the 3 Judge's that heard the case.

The people are supposed to control the government. Not the other way around as it now is here in this country.
rocknroll81 Thanks this. -
I expressed an opinion and asked for opinions from those who are in the know. I'll ask when and what I chose to ask my friend. I haven't needed a dad for my entire life I don't need one now -
All this safety crap is aimed at all wrong the areas in the trucking industry. Waiting time to load and unload. No politician is going to touch that. Companies paying by the mile. They won't touch that. The real and true problems for truck drivers will never be addressed. Drivers should be paid by the hour and receive benefits. A shortage of drivers is a bs statement. Their is an abundance of drivers. They simply want to be payed fairly and treated like people. How about the age old statement: you get what you pay for.
