In training, I went home for PTO at 178 hours (a bit past the 1/2 way point.

BTW - I'm at 337 hours and cannot get off the truck to test out until next week.:biggrin_2551:

they run us as a team, later, once the student has a certain comfort level.
then after the trainer has assesed the students abilities (doesn't take long) he can rest assured the student can drive (most of mine are good drivers)

the upshot of team running is, you have to sleep sometime

if you take the PTO (paid time off) you will get another trainer.
since you live in FL it's most likley you will be taking a road trip probably to Dallas to get picked up by a trainer.
I recommend trying to get an OTR trainer, it puts you in many varied situations with shippers and recievers and gets you your hours faster because of longer trips.

it may happen, the deal with florida is there is frieght going in but hardly any going out unless you get up to jax. hence no trainers running through there, they run me usually from cali-midwest.
I just had a load to miami a week and a half ago, they dead headed me all the way to lithia springs (atlanta) for my next load.

so do you want OTR regional or dedicated? I wasn't picky about my first trainer, I just wanted to get started. I took PTO and asked for a OTR guy for the rest of my hours because thats what I wanted to do.

I had to make the trek to dallas, and my first and sixth student both from Florida had to go to Dallas as well. don't worry they rent mini vans for the trip. once at big D there is a motel right on the terminal property.

I recently started training, I like it so far.

my hometime is good, sometimes a lil' slow getting out of fl.

yes you can chose what kind of trainer you want, most likely in fl you will get a dedicated guy.

it's still hot out there the easiest dedicated account to get into is the dollar general or family dollar accounts (the dollar general dc is in alachua, the family dollar is in marianna) you have to unload these trailers yourself, and some of the stores are ridiculously hard to back into.

The only choice I was given was a smoker/non-smoker...
