I run thru them in my head also, and also a friend of mine owns a business that deals with tanker trailer repairing/rebuilding so I can run thru them for real on his equipment, it helps a lot.

I am not currently applying, I hoped to have already been hired somewhere and on the road but getting out my current situation has proven to be a far longer ordeal then I anticipated.

I wanted to go tanker, although it I couldn't do it with Schneider as their tanker division is smoke free. Id' have a better chance surviving without food and sex then without nicotine. Part of me still wants to go tanker when the time comes but I've done a lot of research and found a dry van company that I think would be a great fit, although I would have to go thru their driver training school for 3 weeks. Provided I can get in when the time comes, that's where I'll land.

If you live close to a Schneider terminal look on their website, there is a page that shows when the recruiters will be at specific places. I walked in with my list of questions and the guy spent an hour answering them, no hassle and no pressure. I don't know how they would be to actually work for but the experience I had with the recruiter was good.

No smoking because it was almost all HazMat, dry van was not smoke free, at least not 2 months. ago.

Vape love my new flavo vanilla bean anyways glad I quit smoking after 25 or 26 years . Clean vape now as a aid still but no nicotine and is free of any of that truckstop mess. All designed and made just fore me. I drive and hour to get it but I know what "it" usually is!

 

I vape too, that wasn't allowed either.

 

That isn't right for the higher in vapes. Mine has no flash point and you could slick pose it and throw it whatever and it wouldn't cause anything to go boom!

Is there law on vape now ? And I mean for fmcsa ref lol.

 

In my career path, I became a tanker driver as soon as possible. I haul HAZMAT fuel products and make excellent money. I will second Chinatown's notion that this is the easiest and best-compensated aspect of trucking. In my specialized niche, hauling gasoline, we usually have very set schedules as well. It is a higher level of responsibility, where the pushing of one wrong button will bill the wrong customer or cause serious loading rack issues... but once you get a routine, you can make some bank. If you can't get on with a HAZMAT carrier right away, haul food grade tanker. The experience you get starting out on a smoothbore food grade tank will prepare you for the more stable, compartmentalized tanks later on if you want to make more $$ and haul HAZMAT liquids..
