Yup-rocknroll-it certainly is frustrating.Getting asked to leave or TOLD to move when your parked where your'e not supposed to be has been going on for a long time.Concentrate on your trip n have a backup you can roll to.I used to get pissed when the big lots were full-------rolled on down the line and cool-found a bunch of little mom n pops, sneak areas, etc. Then i kept a journal in the truck of all the offtrack places.I did what probably most of you do-drive for 10-use the last hour to wind down n find a legal spot.
Different driving here in Ecuador. There is no truckstops.
I believe the parking situation in the USA is going to get worse-especially if you park where you aint supposed to.Next itll be the law instead of the lot boy

I was nested in at a small T/A in Ohio and security ask me to move. No red curb. Just along side the boundry in the drive way. He did tell me where a big parking lot was though just up the hill, so I went there.

It amazes me how many people think they can park wherever they want....especially in marked no parking zones or in fire lanes. Doesn't matter if they're doing it from laziness or poor planning. Do sometimes things not go as planned? Of course...that's the nature of this job, you must be able to think on your feet. But changing circumstances in your day is still not a good enough excuse to park like a jackwagon. Doesn't anyone think of having a Plan B anymore in case Plan A doesn't work out?

I hope they keep rousting people out of the creative "parking" spots...maybe it will force some of these guys to think outside the box.

With all the drivers dumping trash, excrement and piss jugs the parking situation will get much worse. Eventually there will more pay to park than free parking. Maybe free parking for fueling customers only?

I totally agree. The Flying J in Tulsa, OK was so bad a few weeks back that I decided to call corporate.

I totally understand the issue with e-logs and not having a place to park. The problem is simple.....If 1 truck parks outside of the designated parking, is it ok for 2 trucks, or 3 or 20? That's the problem. If one does it, there are no limits....or common sense.

I referenced the J above. I wasn't parking but getting fuel. I couldn't get to the 1st 3 islands due to trucks parked wherever they wanted. They were open but ONLY a straight truck could have made it. Once I fueled and attempted to leave, that was another impossibility. Trucks lined up on the curb 3 wide, and past the lines 2 or 3 spots leaving a very narrow crooked lane to maneuver.

Now I pride myself on being accident free and cautious, but I'm not taking any chances scraping someone. I knocked on doors and asked them to move so I could go on my way. Want should have been a 2 minute exit took over 30. In the meantime, a dozen other trucks were trying to get out and they couldn't. As one truck moved back for me, I came to another stop because there were 2 drivers arguing ahead. Apparently 1 truck hit another trying to exit. Total cluster mess.

These truck stops are private property and I applaud those that enforce the parking. Drivers tend to think they are entitled to do what they want and hope they see fit. ###### the consequences.

Do some better planning on your part and have a couple of options in mind. If one place is full, try the next.

Drivers are lazy anyway. How many times have any of us gone to a truck stop when it was empty only to see trucks parked on the curb, in the space between the 1st pump and the store, asking the scale, basically everywhere except a designated spot. And no, they aren't leftovers from the previous night still on break. They're sitting in their seats eating, doing paperwork or yabbing on the phone.

Truck drivers say they don't get respect??? Start earning it!!

This happened twice so far in a 3 month period according to your first post, you should have learned after the first time. You parking where you see fit isn't fair to the ones who do play by the rules. You've been driving long enough to know how to trip plan. You never run down to the wire on elogs.Sounds like the hook finally woke up and i'm hoping other truckstops do the same.

I find getting told to move your crap is just part of trucking, you got to get use to it. Way to many derelict truck drivers out their parking there crap with no consideration for others.

In the same token way to many junior parking police looking to tell a trucker what to do. Example: I pulled in and fueled up at a Peelot the other day. Pulled forward and flipped up the hood of the Peterbuilt. I was blocking no one and the fuel lanes were mostly empty. I needed a relay for the parking lights so I grabbed a spare from under the hood. No sooner did I climb out with the relay I robed off the air conditioner some Peelot police had to give me a speech how I cannot work on my truck in the Peelot. So in less then a minutes time, some parking nazi has to stick his snout in some business where he don't belong.
