2 Job offers...Which one would you take

    Ok so, I have a class A with all the endorsements I took a class B job and now am looking to switch jobs. I got a job offer to haul dry bulk regional (good cpm but no unload pay unless you've been there for hours) they are willing to train. I got another one doing some semi construction replacing guard rails on the highway (local and hourly pay). What you experienced guys who may have done this kind of work think? What you do and why if that's all you knew.

    Well I had a family member pass away that I needed to be close for because it was expected for a long time. So needless to say there is no family situation anymore. Besides that reason which job would you take and why?

    If theres still family, there will still be situations. But anyways, youre hiding the numbers. No finance, no romance.

    Well I assume all drivers have family but you have to do what you have to do if you accept the position. Lol fair enough on the numbers. The regional gig is Dry: 46 cent loaded 38 cent unloaded - liquid: 51 cpm loaded 38 unloaded. The local job is somewhere around 17-18 hourly with overtime available.

    ^^ CPM dry bulk with no load/unload pay - means most of your day is going to be spend loading/unloading for free.

    You can often extrapolate what the job entails by how they want to pay you. Of course the dry bulk operator will tell you that unloads are quick and their is never any detention but their is a reason he his paying CPM.

    Hourly as long as it's 'year round' work.
    $17.00 to $18.00 an hour seems like a fair starting wage for Virginia.
    Paid for all time you're at work, and sleep in your own bed.

    Of course with a family, you have to take Health and Dental Insurance into consideration as well....don't you?

    Yea, I kind of figured that. Actually they were pretty honest about the unload time ect. I didn't know if the training on class a equipment would outweigh that with most drivers
