Ummmm. 1700-2200 miles every 5-7 days = $544-704 per reset. Subtract taxes, road expenses, etc is more like $450-550 a week.

    Vs

$15/hour + overtime = $600+ per week. Subtract taxes, etc and living at home is more money.

I know you "want" to do tanker OTR but like the Rolling Stones sang...

Bob Dobalina and ibarra4602 Thank this.

Okay, you have been a CDL holder for 15 years and Schneider wants to start you out at 32 cpm? That, my friend, is an insult towards you. Better off with the construction gig. Besides, recruiters tend to paint a better picture than what reality entails. You kept your record clean for too long to take a step backwards.

I would take the $15 per hour and forget about going OTR. OTR is a modern day sweat shop type of operation for the effort and the pay you receive. OTR works out to less than ten bucks an hour and you work your butt off just to make things happen for yourself.

Just my take on OTR though and others may have contrary opinions. If you are a family man though, there is no substitute for being at home every night.

It would be awful hard to have a cdl that long and go to Schneider to get trained by some yahoo who probably haven't had a cdl a year.. I don't know Schneider training policies but a lot of these yahoo trainers at other companies don't even have a year experience before they let em train...

Back in 2002 I really liked OTR,with all the changes within carriers and all the new laws I imagine it sucks now.
