I work for a beverage company doing bulk...
There's a snowstorm coming and a lot should be coming down while we're working...
Expecting 8-12 inches...
We're pretty much the only vendor that's going out there...
Sodas are serious business apparently
Does my company care about it's employees??

Without soda, how is it possible to have sippy cup ballast crossing a snow covered parking lot while munching on a donut!!!???
This is a SAFETY issue here!insertnamehere, tscottme and thejackal Thank this. -
There isn't a company out here that cares about you or me. We're just dumb replaceable drivers.

Does my company care about it's employees??
That is why God invented the Teamsters.
The micro carrier I work for now is about as good a deal as I've found. The owner started as a driver at a mega. Nobody in that office messes with the drivers.
You also said expecting 8-12 inches, so it hasn't happened yet.
My cousin is a mail hauler Pittsburgh to Buffalo turn nightly. I talk to him all the time while we are both driving, and he is truly an expert, just hammer's down in the most abominable
of conditions.AtticusRoad, De Trucker and Lepton1 Thank this. -
"Does my company care about me?"
Good God NO! You are an expense. A negative on the profit/loss statement each quarter. A number thay would LOVE to erase.
Your only saving grace is that the work you perform creates profit. Every soda you deliver is a positive on that same profit/loss quarterly statement. To be honest, your load is worth far, far more to the bottom line than you are.
So get out there and throw them sodas, monkey boy! And oh by the way, don't damage the truck! It's worth more than you are, too.Longarm, AModelCat, insertnamehere and 2 others Thank this. -

Of course not.
Where are you at that's getting 8-12 inches? -
If you cant stay on the road.Shut it down. What are they gonna do? Im sure youll get a chance to drive the next day.I had a company try to "bully" me on 40 t0 50 mph winds 5 inches of snow in 2 hours.Stayed home, actually told the Boss "Its totally unsafe out there,What are you gonna do,Chop my n### off? Guess what, the load was still at base for me the next day.You know why? No one else would run it.Use your own discretion.JMO

The call to drive is totally up to the driver. Period.
What you have to do is call your dispatcher and tell them that to operator your truck in the environment out there at this time would be a SAFETY issue. You cannot put the safety of yourself, your load, or the safety of the general public at risk. Once you have made that statement and put it in writing if you can * qualcomm or people net, whatever, you cannot be fired for refusing to comply with the orders of the company. Well you can be fired but you will win all your wages back in court.
Safety is an issue that only the uninformed mess with. Inform them you won't risk the lives or property of others.BUMBACLADWAR Thanks this.
