She does have one and so does my brother. That was really all I could come up with was money order and or online deposit if my bank will let me. Thank you guys for all the help and advice. I'll update as soon as I talk to mr riley again
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Can someone explain the inverter to me. From what I understand it allows you to plug in things that draw regular ac power instead of the 12 volt appliances. Is there anything I am missing. I know the inverter allows you to plug in things like microwaves and most coffee makers. The 12 volt appliances severely limit you

Big inverters are wired directly to your batteries. You've got the function correct, and that's all they really do. You need an APU or else idle the truck while using the inverter to keep it from draining the battery.
Also, I use two debit cards. I have one, and my mother has the other. My mother is VERY good with money, though, and never takes as much as she could. -
So the apu is like a separate power source that doesn't depend on the trucks battery. I am assuming that without the inverter or apu that a driver is really limited to just low power appliances that plug into the cigarette lighter. Those trucks with a small fridge, cooking devices like hot plates and convection ovens and similar must have inverters and or apus installed. Trucks have gotten fancy nowadays heck my uncle used to carry around a ice chest and sandwiches. For a tv he used dvds and or an antenna to pick up local channels.

My understanding is that most apus are reefer diesels without the cooling apparatus. They do rely on the truck battery, but they also charge it while they run. You can use multiple small inverters plugged into 12v sockets, but you need to be wary of runnering the battery down with any inverter.

Ok so even with the inverter or apu you can only run so many items at once. I'm guessing thats something they'll teach you since the trucks already come with the inverter.

An inverter is a converter of electrical power. It converts 12 volts DC power into approximately 120 volts of AC power. The power that the inverter converts from 12v DC to 120V AC comes from either the truck batteries or a truck's auxiliary power unit (APU). The inverter has some limit on what it can provide expressed in watts. An AC device like a microwave or coffeemaker pulls something near 1000 watts of AC power. Typically trucks with microwaves, etc. have inverters with 1500 - 2000 watts of capacity.

Yes, you can only run some of your devices at once. My guess is your microwave or possibly a homestyle coffeemaker will demand the most power. Try not to use them at the same time. Things like household phone chargers draw very little current or watts. Everything has a little label or engraving on it somewhere to tell you how much power is draws. That power demand will be expressed in Amps or Watts. A Watt is Amps X Voltage. A Watt divided by Voltage equals Amps. Look where the power cord connects to the body of the device. You should see a label that says what voltage and amps, or watts it needs.
