I'm not real sure and they didn't seem to have a sense of humor so I just kept my mouth shut.

I have some smaller rubber lined vinyl hose for 5/16" chain that I leave on the chain in a couple spots. Slides back n forth just easy enough I can use my bar or pusher pole to move into place when chaining over stuff. The bigger chain I leave the wraps loose so I don't have to deal with them sliding off the place I put them.

I got the small ones out of the trash bin at a high end steel shipper. They were used around their fabric slings so as not to scuff the metal. Easy find and work perfect.

If I remember I'll put a picture when I go to the yard later.

Beautiful thing to find useful stuff for free!

We go through 2" hose like crazy I have lots of it. I cut it in 8 to 10 inch pieces then slip it over my straps, one thing I started doing is I put a slit longways down it and I can slip it over where I want and it stays put.

PeteyFixAll, not4hire and MJ1657 Thank this.

Thats kind of a grey area. If it's pinned up and side to side it can't go anywhere, but the wrong guy with a badge on his chest will likely argue.
The best way would be to set it down on the deck and chain or strap it down.
If you secure it up like that with it pinned, with the rubber tires, short wheelbase and long overhang you'll never keep the chains from getting slack and shockloading tight over and over again going down the road.
