than i guess you have very different conditions to ours, in some countries they cut a lot of forests, here they cut tree here thee there , in scandinavia they cut lot of threes on same place so they make good trails, they use even 6x2 and dont use cranes.....

i would rather chose tag behind driven tandem get it in air and put some more weight on drive axles.....

anyway in europe only finland use 4axle in more significant amount, they have legal 76t on 9 axles, 64t on 8axles

they sometimes use even 5axle timber trucks

long time ago switzerland had some strange laws, maximum width was 2.3m,maximum weight on 4axles were 28t, truck must had 12.5hp/t....back than timber trucks were often rigids 4axle trucks

it is amazing to see how crapy those tandem trailers are bad in terrain, 6x4 with real trailer would pass this without problems, i wonder how crazy you have to be to buy such trailer, it is difficult to rotate it, reduce traction like here, swinging too much reducing travel speed, cant take longer woods, wearing tires and everything on axles too much..... those who buy it says it is lighter, but with 6x6 truck it is still much heavier than 6x4 +normal one......also strange thing is this truck is 6x6 on air suspension, only positive side of having such trailer is you can go easier in reverse on difficult terrain ( mud or steep hill) while on normal trailer you need to be on clutch

yes, drawbar trailer A-trailer, even 3axle version of such trailer could be acceptable

but this tandem( centralaxle) is crap.....

    what is alpo?

well know that you did mistake with buying such crapy trailer, go back to buying normal ones

i have two cousins running timber trucks in very difficult places where i am born in bosnia this means going in 1st low gear downhill in forest due road/steep hill/high load, one says he will never again buy 2axle trailer, he says i can save 3hours per day because it is more stable in forest, i.e. do 4 trips instead of 3 per day and at same time load more resulting 70% more wood transported

You don't see many drawbar trailers around here... Mostly those tandem or tri-axle pups....

Can you back up a drawbar trailer ?

that is not problem for decent driver, you will not sent average romanian driver with fake drivers licence to this job....

timber trucks have long trailers, long overhangs on trucks and long drawbar they are easy to drive in reverse+add twin tires on trailer that create lot of drag so turntable will not rotate easy, 3axle trailers are really easy to reverse,

brother have somewhere video he reversing 4x4 crane+tipper+winterservice truck with 4axle long, drawbar , low-loader trailer with 25kmh , truck is with power shift gearbox,it allows you to get into high range in reverse you need to use high split reverse with maximum throttle and max rpm and push lever + it will go in high range

when trailer become shorter and truck longer you have more problems with this, for example for few years we were running short 5m drawbar trailers behind 4axle tippers that is problem, you can go only straight

few years this video become popular, acually this is nothing special timber truck drivers do that almost every day
