I saw how they "improved" their wifi service so I gave it a try, once. The speed was slow and constantly dropped... my iPhone would switch over to cellular service and it cost me an extra $30 on my cellular bill on top of the cost for the use of their 24 hour period of "enhanced" wifi service.

    NEVER AGAIN... crap service

iPhones are notorious for having bad wifi radio reception to a relatively close antenna. My iPhone will not be able to remain connected to most PFJ parking lot networks but I open up my MacBook and connection is solid with 5+ Mbps throughput.

I was in a bad spot at the Pilot in Caddo Mills, TX lot yesterday afternoon with a "weak signal" but still had great speed on my mac.

In my experience, only maybe 1 in 7 PFJ sites has less than satisfactory wifi service (paid premium level). Their free level sucks everywhere.

I find the same thing with my android phone and tablet but with Dell laptop, even it being a relic from 2009 it picks up the signal much better.

This is a speed test from a unusually weak PFJ wifi connection yesterday (Sunday) afternoon Caddo Mills, TX Pilot (Enhanced Premium). I've seen other tests at other locations that exceeded 8 mbps.

That doesnt seem too bad. 5 mbps should be sufficient enough for streaming services. Does that test show the latency?
