Trucks set to no idle. Bunk heaters don't work. Slip seating in Volvos. Run a tight overnight and company says hotel is ok but run is tight and northeast.
Short of rigging a stick to bump rpms, how can I idle this POS?
Tried cruise with no luck.

Some trucks a stick wont even work. A adjustable snow brush or bar magnet can be modified to work. If the truck will take. We had 1 truck that cruise didn't override the shut off. Had a shop change the settings in the ecm..

Many are temperature dependent ... parameters set by company policy. Inside a certain temp range, will refuse to idle beyond a certain time limit. To answer your question, it may not be possible.
AtticusRoad and JReding Thank this. -

Still cold enough -
Some won't, without a change in the ECM settings. My 14 Cascadia would only idle 10 minutes, before shutting down. Shop had to reset the ECM, to run about 40 minutes.

Do you sleep in your truck? If so, demand they either fix it or get you into another truck. Be nice but firm. If they won't do that there are a lot of other companies that are looking for good drivers. -8 with no heat is in humane.
Voorhees84, Badmon and JReding Thank this. -

Try setting the trailer brakes and leave the tractor brakes off and jam the accelerator petal with a screw driver or something .....
It's worth a try.....
