We don't have auto trans with manual paddle shift ..... If you don't count I shift /m drive...
You have to buy aftermarket coffee maker tho....
Can you raise the front drives on that scania or just dump the air pressure..? -
but you guys get engine brake much before we get retarders, so in old times euro trucks were much behind us ones....
more serious development of euro trucks started in 60s , start to grown fast in late 60s and early 70s and continued to latter....but they have develop everything else than auxiliary braking they had only butterfly in exhaust nothing more ,
when we get turbo engines, brake become about some 35-40% weaker, so turbo trucks were going downhill with 20mph on 6% and 88200lbs or something like that depending how fast you want to change your brakes
some of trucks got telma electric retarders, some get early hydaulic voith retarders from 1975,
i know a guy who had volvo F12 with aftermarket engine brake.....
but most of trucks did not had any significant help, roads back then were much worst than now, more significant use of retarder started in mid 80s , and retarder become must have in early 90s
today only small amount of trucks dont have retarder, scania offer brake integration since 1993 so it is nothing smart, ( retarder+eng.br+service brakes on pedal)
ebs allows you to combine all kind of brakes together give cruising controls for downhill so you dont need to do anytihng but set max speed, and lot more -
That second picture should explain why we don't like your trucks. Focus on the guy seated at the table in the sleeper berth. Do you see how his right elbow is resting on the arm rest of the passenger seat and his left arm is only a few inches from the rear wall of the sleeper? Spend 4 to 6 weeks living in such a small space and you will quickly understand why we are in favor of a much larger sleeper. -
coffee maker, well i have never tried coffee , but anything with brand will cost you more than aftermarket, our people preffer real coffee and not espresso , so they cook coffee real ottoman turkish coffee , and you dont drive and drink coffee, you need to prepare it with special care it takes time to make real one.... and you dont just drink it, drivers sit sometimes for more hours drinking one small cup
you can lift second axle, scania can do that even on low tractors, this axle is now electrohydraulic , lighter less tire wear less maintenance more precise steering, and it stays straigh when it is in air -
there was some renault premium trucks without passenger seat and without bed but instead some sofa
but it is unclear to me how it is possible that your trucks still dont have things that are normal in last 10, 20 or even 30 years in some cases -
What things are you referrimg tot? Turn seats? Beds that break down to a table and bench?
-
I'd like that 750hp V8 from the factory..........

However, a few remarks. The cab of an EU truck is much wider and higher, and you can stand between the seats, so the actual living space is more then you might think. With a NA truck the cab and the sleeper are two separate spaces, the actual cab is quite narrow, and you have no headroom there. If you want to stand up, you have to move to the sleeper.
A while back I showed this picture:
a much larger sleeper (custom made of course), and I asked what you would think of such a truck. I didn't really get many serious responses.Last edited: Jan 9, 2017
