I believe the $500 he is referring to is the $500 / week you are paid while in the classroom training. After that you are paid $90 /day for each day you are in the truck with the driver trainer.
Once that is complete and you get your own truck it's a cpm rate, which I do not know what that is (depends on route, fleet etc) so I will not guess. But your pay will be based on the miles you get and the cpm you are paid once you complete training.
Edit: And quite honestly, though it may not be my business, but if you are already bringing home over $1000 / week than trucking may not be for you. From most things I've looked into you're looking at a year before you start hitting the 50K /yr mark in trucking (your mileage may very, no pun intended)and that's gross earnings, but it would seem that if you BRING HOME $1000 each week, you are already grossing well over that. Something isn't adding up here.

I still think if he's already bringing home more than $1000 / wk why look into this in the first place....I'd guess with that take home he's already making 65k /yr roughly. I'm not sure you'll find a trucking job where you can start out as a newb making that kind of money. After some experience sure, but not out of the gate.
I just find it a little.....unbelievable.
EdGypsyink74 and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
I know they wont during training.i understand all that..i understand that training pay is alot lower cause they are training you..heck alot of companies don't pay at all..im just want to know what o can expect to make solo after all training is done..me alone on the road solo with roehl?i know it depends on fleets on stuff like that but a rough figure

I want to be an owner op..have goals in life..thats why....im doing landscaping now n the older you get the harder it is on your body...its physical labor...n 1000 a week is about 50k

You said you're bringing home more than double 500, which would mean you're grossing far more if you take home 1000 AFTER taxes. That is what take home means.
If that was an error, than I understand a little better. If you're making 50k /yr now it sounds more reasonable you're willing to drive for 50k.

Net around $800...these companies for most part say starting 50 to 55 yr starting. Is that correct?is that what i 1st yr drive makes?

I was stating that was the deal in order to get your CDL. Getting paid $500 a week for the first 4 and then $90 a day with the OTR trainer for 'up to 14' days to get you your own truck and mileage rate isn't 'unreasonable' for me. The deal is what the deal is. If you don't like it, keep walking. Where I live employment opportunities above minimum wage are few and far between. My government job of 20 years only nets $1K every 2 weeks. If I 'put in my dues' for a relatively short 6 weeks, then a few months of learning OTR solo, I will be well on my way to netting quite a bit more than $2K a month. After 6 years of pay freezes, those are dues I'm willing to pay to move my family forward and keep our home.
I had also been running the family farm the last 15 years with my parents just to keep it afloat, so I am well aware of what hard work is. Also, anyone not sitting on their rear collecting welfare have goals and aspirations, so you are NOT unique in that aspect.Duurtipoker Thanks this.
