I think 98989 once explained that this kind of work is in fact far easier with a cabover. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. The whole drivetrain is easily accessible with a cabover.

That is still long enough the engine isn't tucked under the cab. When i said short hood i was talking about your typical aero truck with the back two cylinders under the cab. When i bought this columbia i was 15 years younger and able to bend in ways that now cause me to scream in pain.

With a day cab and small sleeper yes. But or a decent sized sleeper on it and no. You can't jack it up high enough. Much easier to just open the hood on a pete.

And no he doesn't know. Until he buys his own and starts working on it he is just reading the same sales brochure crap you are.

Some of the custom builders moved the drive line back to the rear of the sleeper , then had a trap door to gain engine access . Not sure if this builder did this or not .

no no serious technical things, like clutch with air servo, like 6ch abs, ebs too, ecas or even mecahanical height control, we are talking here about active suspension , volvo offer independent front suspension.....

this is not so necessary as much as things noted above , once you try one of these you will never want to drive anything without ebs and ecas

That's what they do in buses and its even worse, but I've never seen a class 8 truck built that way.

image.jpeg This one is like that , driveline is moved back . Side door goes into the master bedroom , with a king size bed . Drivers seats are on a second level . Then living room is at the top (3rd level ) . They did a killer job putting it together ! Made for a race team if I am not mistaken .

All those things are not needed. Newer and more complicated does not equal better.

this dont bring too much, you need stronger axles to carry something more, this way you just give more strain to them, there is not too many of them on road, also man transfer cases are not stongest one, renk gearbox is kinda exotic
