What is going on in this thread?

Just so its clear....Not my truck so im very limited as to what i basically have on now..
Not driven 80mi ish and another 80 return from your area (outta route with company trk and fuel)just to TRY a dipole that i have never seen personally and only a cpl pics on here...
Same with the huge bracket you want me to have made for the back of the cab...AGAIN its not my trk and the man who signs my chks makes rules..
I get home a col days every cpl of weeks and i have to deal with my cancer stuff, have some sorta life to..
Now with all the stuff i tried and not done well was donenbefore i got here...I did get better results with the last two volvos i ran..yes different mount positions and all but i got with the gear i own now 20mi fairly often...
I keep sayin im limited in my optios but that seems to be a lost statement on you..
I have an issue that i just cant identify as of yet..If im gettin good aa #'s and 8 mi normall but the odd time goin through carlisle headed s and pick up but not send approx 20 mi im close to fixing it..Thats where im stuck..
So if i use a 5/7 ft tuneable tip fibreglass,a 10k with either a 18" machine shop made 6061 alumium or a 22" on either of the two mounts i own and base set up results are so bad ill not even hook up the radio then what...I take it off and go back to what i know so far works better....
Its something simple im missing.. -

True....Ends up in mame calling in big words or little..
Me personally i just been bombed with idea but some i have tried with no sucess and have been somewhat insulted..so i basically closed my mind at the entire deal cause i dont get any gains..
Totally messes with my mind when rabbi posts vids of a fella.gettin 20-40 on a barefoot cobra(its been modified) with a pair of 4 ft fibreglass and on an older all metal truck..Then mark(hard drive)posts a vid of some dude with same radio(marks tune)same ant, same truck gets the fantastic tx to cali vid(approx 1500 mi)and i get told use a 17" shaft on my 10k then lean it 45 deg to get a big difference...
This dipole ifea..Rabbi swears by it mark himself told me no..
Sorry im rambleing.. -
Don't feel lonesome I did a lot of experimenting before the dipole which is not a true dipole and that didn't work the first time as I still had it grounded to the truck. It isn't the perfect solution but the radio is happy and it has been consistent on 2 cascadias.

Only recommended for certain unique situations...
1--plastic bodied trucks
2-trucks with grounding issues
3-for guys unable to follow installation instructions of a Predator 10k on a Freightliner Cascadia.
Otherwise they aren't that great for a mobile, plus they are more complicated, which is why Mark won't recommend one.
Mark and I agree there is usually a better way. -
See what i mean never ready....#3..Just gotta keep throwin salt at an open wound...
Rabbi...20 more degree just aint gonna do some magically wonder....Its just gonna give me a flase reading and warm up the worms..
Told ya and you only do selective reading but i tried it with my machined shop made 6061 aircraft alumium 18 " and a factory 10k 22"...poor results...
Maybe i should copy n past this a few hundred times....
Gotta be something little im not seeing thats makeing.the difference....Would be nice to have fresh eyes on it..Its basically ALLLLLLL i ever asked for.from anyone..bored silly Thanks this. -
Well number 3 could apply to me as well. I tried the bonding with just regular wire with no improvement.. so then found I should have used braid instead. On my not quite a dipole I didn't see why it would make a difference if it was grounded to the truck but I did isolate it after rabbi suggested it and the improvement was excellent. When I first tried isolating it I used a single layer of bike innertube, no improvement In frustration I decided to add a second layer that did the trick.
