Sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, stuff like that. A lot of buildings have their own hoses inside, or used to. 3 shops all had used hose for sale, the place I went to was right by where I scaled today. Lucky

The 2 inch fits around chains pretty snug. I had to remove my hook to get it on so I wasn't a fan. 4 inch is perfect for straps though. I do like was said above and put a slit down one side. I use it for straps and to put uner my metal edge protectors. If using for straps though I double it up. I cut a brand-new strap on a skid loader bucket with it just being one layer.

I found mine in the back of a truckstop. 3 big rolls of 4 inch and one of 2 inch. If you're ever near me let me know. I carry quite a bit with me.

I left 2 of the 4 inch rolls at our shop for other drivers. They've been there over a year and no one has touched them. Smh

Ok thanks I was thinking just for chains.

So dumb question. You're taking something round and cutting a slit in it. Why not just take an old 4" strap and sew/staple up one long side? Making essentially the same thing I believe.

This place sometimes has used fire hose, among other things. http://www.repurposedmaterialsinc.com/view-all-categories/ I know they have a few locations but I have only been to the one near Denver. It is accessible by truck.

That's sounds like a lot more work. I'll take a picture of what I've got for you tomorrow.

I have used old straps too but these seem to stay in place better in my opinion.

Hoses are pre creased to fold in half, cut them on the seam and they will lay flat..

So would two flat straps with one side sewn. Not arguing. Just thinking. We run loads for a place that makes straps. So I'm thinking to ask on Monday what 12, foot long, straps would cost sewn together. Either that or I go to local fire halls this weekend looking in dumpsters :)

I cut up my old 4" straps into 12" pieces.
Take 2,sew one side and put velcro on the other side.
Works great for 2" and 3"straps.
A little snug for 4" straps.
