I think you are working a tad too hard.

If you shut off a engine with a auto, it should freeze everything solid. I never tried that in the time we used a auto like that. If you have to set her parked, just pull the yellow and red brakes and the auto knows you want to park it. And it will do what it has to do. You are already stopped. That means clutch is in usually when you come to a stop. You are not going to be allowed to start a engine with auto without that clutch in.

If you test airbrakes you are mashing the service air until your red light and alarm kicks in around 60 PSI. Your clutch should be in. She's not going to do anything crazy. That clutch is key.

There is a N switch on a auto either on the dashboard tree or the rockwell paddle under your steering wheel. Select N and it will pick neutral. You should hear a click and the rig rock opposite the rock it does when going into first gear or whatsoever before you take off.

There should be a set of chocks in your side box, use those if you have to. But I don't think it will come to that.

Testing is stressful. But when you get past testing, you will gain knowledge along the way as you drive for a living hopefully with people teaching you small stuff.

If you really want to be useful, learn a Manual. There is a time coming in trucking that people who do not know or refuse to learn manuals will lose oppertunities to work in good jobs. You will hopefully have the horse sense to know that a manual offers you a great deal of ... becoming one with your rig if that makes sense at all.

Wheel chocks are the answer to that quesion.

Shutting down an auto tranny in gear, it will shift to neutral by itself. It won't hold the truck.

Don't forget to remove the chocks when you get to the tug test at the end of the test. If you run over them, you failed. At least it was this way when I took the test.

It takes a certain amount of time for that to clear out of your system. which is why testing detects work the way they do. In hair it is possible as far as 6 months. If you have that much.

No disrepsect intended, just have to be strong when it comes to 40 tons on the road. If something (And usually does..) happens when some dupe in a car is smoking and gets in your way... your nerves and mind have to be clear to do what you have to do not to kill him. It's a public safety position actually.

Getting clean is very hard to do, if you do that and stay clean then props to you. Many people cannot get clean and sometimes die for it. Hang in there.

In my day there was no Automatic in existance when we did our tests way back in the 80's there were other issues to consider. We first got Autos in 2001 before 9-11 and it has proved itself in very intense husband wife team driving, even through a couple of tractor jackknifes on ice. Which would totally ruin the shifting on a manual when you drop everything to recover it. But the auto sailed through that no problem and I think it even assisted in making sure those tires had power. The one flaw of that auto is that you have to have the brakes set when engine off. Or failure to shut down causes the buffer inside the software stack not to clear until it fills up and bricks requiring a tow to a shop computer to reset.

Im old. But I can still learn new things. Testing with a auto that drops into nuetral when engine off it just complicates things and need chocks. No two ways around it. I'll use them.

You will find a Manual to be your advantage. Autos are there to help fleets put people into the trucks who otherwise will not learn manuals. Not necessarily you personally. It's just the way it is. My spouse did a auto for her first truck, but her second was a 13 speed and it made her tears now and then sometimes when it wont take a gear on a slow upgrade as the speed dropped off. That was where I came in to train her and teach her.

If you understand marriage, you will know that wifes do not always listen to hubby. THAT makes it really hard.

I was excited ready to change my life, I took a detox to help clean my system that obviously didn't workout in my favor, but I don't ever want to go back down that road so I will continue to find a otr company who will accept me since I don't have a cdl a yet
