    James J. Williams - tanker
    TWT Refrigerated Service - refrigerated
    Leavitt's Freight Service - flatbed
    Watkins-Shepard - dry van
All the above hire new cdl grads. Look over the websites.
I was also in the military and never got rid of the urge to roam. Trucking is a good fit.
All the above should provide home time your wife will be content with.

Some local companies that will hire with little or no experience:

    Schneider dedicated, Seattle (Dollar Tree)

    United Natural Foods (UNFI), Auburn

    Interstate Distributors, Tacoma

    Frontier Transport, Seattle

Hello and Welcome. Just a thought... Check into getting your Hazmat, IF you qualify, You can go in and do the background check / fingerprint portion. It ( the process) usually takes a few weeks. 2-3. I did my Hazmat end. back in Aug or so. You do not need to do it in any order. It will not be on your license until you get the letter from DC.

Thanks for your service, and ill definitely give them a whirl! I must admit, I'm itchy to leave this place, been here for almost 2 years now I'm ready to be gone!

Sounds to me all of these are national carriers. I know Schneider is. I am not saying that is bad but I would rather work for a smaller company.

    Thank you!

Was planning on it actually, just wanted to figure out what company I was going with. The current one in the shoot only does reefer, so I will see.But thanks for the information on the process. I thought it was a little bit more of a simple process, but what has been harder than expected.......pretty much everything haha

I can understand avoiding the bigger megas, i just thought I'd throw out what I saw was available locally, it's always hard to tell what may appeal to one person or another.
I'm not sure how big UNFI or Frontier are, I'm thinking they're regional, perhaps?
Local work is the way to go if you can get it, but getting it is the hard part.

Which state will you move to? Some of those companies that have been recommended may not hire from there.

These is no telling, I am from the south east so I might head back there soon. It won't be for a while. So I'll be established on experience if need be.
