well that 27" shaft is still nothing to write home about its just a cheap aluminum stick... your still probably using a ss mirror mount or I would hope a ss mount with a aluminum antenna.... predators are not a very well ground wise antenna..... i wish someone would actually build a steel antenna or anything really other than these cheap aluminum jobeees out here.....

 

Looks like my ss mount/27" shaft and ext speaker will be dysarts today and im 50 miles past it..I knew i shoulda stopped for the night there..
Oh well ill pick it up around the 3/4th of feb when im back through next..

 

What new external did you p/u go with ???

 

I got a new bear cat 20 ext speaker..The ole cobra has seen better days..

Think I'm just gonna go with a102" and be done with it....pretty much think all these aluminum antennas are junk predator/tram/funky made....I'll wrap one big huge ground strap around my entire trk... then I'll be able to talk and receive like rabbi does...... no b.s.

I "think" i spoted an issue with my mount..From mirror to the mount there is a small space..Wonder if i add a few ss washers to make a better connection between mount to mirror if that will help any..
Dont think the j in wytherville will have any..Atleast they have a store,shop and trk wash so someone should have somethin..

 

Had a Shakespeare 4' marine whip that worked great on the mirror mount with my galaxy, but when I put in my ranger, I had to use a predator antenna with the four foot high coil at about a three to five degree angle to clear the windshield and have the range. Took it to the cb shop after cutting the whip to size for swrs and it was under 1 on both high and low channels. Run a good ground though from your mount too.

 

Im putting an ohm meter on it sence i put a braded strap between the mount and mirror arm bolt holes..Im not getting any.reading..So it means its shorted out i think..
Have braded straps on the door hinges of my cascadia..
