I know most wish the insurance we have was even better. I get that. Considering how much the government has screwed up the medical insurance industry in the past 6+ years, I am surprised our insurance is not far worse and even more expensive!
One thing about our benefits that is easily overlooked is the dedicated benefits team we have in place to handle any issues with our benefits. Rather than talking on the phone to some "could care less" insurance company customer service rep, we have our own Walmart associates to help us. They have always been very friendly and helpful each time I have called, and they answer the phone very promptly! Since Walmart actually pays the insurance clams that are only processed by an insurance company such as Aetna and others, Walmart can approve medications or medical treatment not normally covered and enter it directly into the system so the insurance carrier pays the claim!
Let me add another item that is not widely known to even current employees here that Walmart deserves great praise for. Walmart allows a driver to take up to a year leave of absence (LOA), which frankly is quite generous. But what many may not know is that one year LOA can be EXTENDED! Case in point, I injured my left shoulder in December 2015. I have undergone four surgeries in the past ten months, most recently just six weeks ago, as well as numerous physical therapy. I was very concerned leading up to December 2016 because my one year LOA was nearing an end. My HR manager at my DC sent me a few forms to have my doctor complete in order to EXTEND the one year LOA. I was approved of a LOA extension until April 8, 2017, the current estimated return to work date by my doctor. I certainly hope to return before April, but should that not happen, I could apply for even more time! This lengthy LOA policy has been a very good benefit that could easily be overlooked when choosing to apply for a job here.drozzer69, creeder86, mike3fan and 1 other person Thank this. -

If you had to study up on how to do a pretrip to get hired at this place, you better make sure you drop all your tricks before coming to work here or you won't be driving for Walmart long. -
