I have to admit that when ever I told someone that I wanted to drive the most common response was "what are ya, goofy?", now I just keep my ideas to myself.

No....terrible advice. That's the path of least resistance, but if the OP wants a quality driving job he will have to put in some legwork, make lots of calls, and deal with some rejection. But it will be worth in the end. Working for a crap mega for crap pay is not the answer.

Try Roehl Transport. They pay you $500.00 a week just to attend their school, then when you hit the road you get full driver pay. They're the only company that pays the student to attend school. By doing it this way, you can be brought up to date on the new regulations and Elogs.

i was started at .43 cpm + fuel bonuses, w/ accessorial pay. during training they'er giving a gay-run-teed (extra points if you know who said that) $700 or .14 cpm which ever is greater while training. that's not crap pay for starting with a new company.

however i will say we each have our own opinions. what worked for you may not work for me, and vice versa. the reason i went my route was because prime's always done right by me. i only suggested one possibility from being in his shoes.

I'm with bzinger on this. But if you really wanna go OTR you can go OTR or take some medicine.
Its 2017 there is medicine but not a cure for everything these days, even OTR trucking. When I'm on home time and I feel like driving I just break out my logitech G27 and aftermarket usb shifter. skrs_default_01.jpg Grab the snacks, big cup and load up American Truck Simulator. And boom I'm back at work. Any engine, transmission, truck is just a mouse click away. Wanna drive for SWIFT? wos5_00196.jpg Or maybe you have class? 20170120191607_1.jpg The cabin adjustment options are so realistic you can drop all the air out of your seat. And have the same view so many "professional drivers" have. 20170120200015_1.jpg . Theres even internet radio or you can put your own music in the game. You can drive 35,45 even 100mph but watch out for the bears because they WILL slap you on the wrist. But what about game A.I. don't worry theres one lane merge traffic jams 20170120191919_1.jpg and the A.I is guaranteed to not let you merge onto the interstate and run right in front of you when making right turns and attempting to back in off the road. And when they hit you, you lose money. Drive in the left lane all you want. Don't even worry about safety or your DAC. You can get away with anything. 2015-04-30_00001.jpg
You have all sorts of challenging backs to choose from. 20170120194215_1.jpg No grumpy shippers and receivers just click, drive, click and done. Every load is a drop and hook. An when you get tired of playing company driver you can be a regular Milhouse Moneybags as a O/O. Just take a loan from the bank, get some trucks, maybe hire a couple of drivers and boom your a succsselful O/O. Don't forget to buy a garage for all those trucks. 20160705193657_1.jpg Just look at these rates. 20170120194656_1.jpg
Of course you could always get a bunch of realism mods and drop the rates, jack up the fines, activate the in-game scale houses, get the no pullup fuel island mod, long shower linemod, fuel-card-sometimes-doesnt-work-mod, speed limiter mod, pc miller paid miles mod, wait for dispach mod but wheres the fun in that.

No if you enjoyed trucking yes if you didn't, think most o/o would be relieved to just get out of it and retire and let someone else have all the worries.
