Nah... it's just business. If someone is dumb enough to book it at that rate then good for them running their business into the ground. If that broker calls you (he won't in the here and now) give him your rate and if he takes it good, if not no problem.

If it's too good to be true....Yeah immediately I suspected something funny.
I would go to mid Florida if they wanted to pay $3-$4/mi. There's a bunch sitting there for FL.
I got to make it home to MI Monday for the Webasto heater to be installed. So I can't go too far out west.Dwardell662 Thanks this. -

You did go into SD a complete loser area. Start studying the DAT stuff. 1.50 out better than zero and feeling pressure. There's tons of produce now I run it every day. Stay out of crap lanes your boss is not helping you. Really MD, FL, SD what next? Oh go to Denver so you can pull max weight beer loads for .90 cents a mile.
Maybe tell us about your trucking background and we can help you. You can alway call me 720.955.1278.

First week was good. I went into MD for $4/mi and del that night. I suggested Florida after that.
I've been out for 15 full work days now. I've grossed $13,000 in that time in exactly 7,000 miles empty and loaded. So it hasn't been bad. I started with 1,975 on the odometer after I picked up the trailer and now I'm at 8,975. Of course, I don't get the full amount as my boss takes a certain ℅, but it's a good deal.
Being that I have a lot of overhead, having a new truck and therefore a big payment, it's not like I can just take short hauls every day in the Midwest for $900 on 400 miles. I could do that but I'd make a lot less profit than I've made. I think I've profited like $5400 including $100 for trailer pickup and $100 for passing a lvl3 I got pulled over in SD last week.
But the rest of this week gonna be crappy and then next week I'll make nothing because I'm taking the week off. Then I'll go back out for 10 weeks. I'm not gonna be able to do very well unless I start learning to find my own freight. Boss is willing to give me free reign to do that as long as I follow his rules, which are more than acceptable. Bottom line, don't book while driving, no setting up w a broker we aren't set up with, and always check credit score and make sure they are factorable.
Nobody is going to know my clock and what I need better with whatever time I have available on my clock and what I can do and can't do better than me, doesn't matter how good or bad a load finder is. I'm gonna have to end up doing that myself most of the time in order to find out what's best for my personal operation.
This app said there was no parking here at this Pilot, but there's always a parking spot. It's always the one that 99℅ of drivers won't even try to get into, but it helps that I used to be a pretty darn good yard switcherJoab Rynere, Bean Jr., Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
Dose you guy have any direct freight or just loadboared stuff? When I started as a company driver with the guy I'm leased to now he had quite a bit of direct. But now it's %92 loadboard. That is making things difficult at times. I have a few coustemers I have picked up and he is using them for his own trucks too. He only charges %10 and I can work with that but the plan is to get my own numbers this year. I have a few more coustemers I could get but not going to till I get my own numbers.
Your doing fine and sounds like your learning a lot. -
Don't ever be taking 400 mile short hauls in the mid west for $900. Think $1,200 as a minimum on those. But first things first you need to build up some revenue starting out. You're doing good just hang in there banging out what you can in the slow time and a few more weeks $1,200 and $1,200+ on 300-400 miles will be there for the taking.
