Nope, but could be a waste of money. Library cards are free. Trade schools are cheaper than degrees from higher education, and usually provide better opportunities for jobs (e.g. plumber or electrician).
I'm a linehaul driver that has a bachelor degree in Philosophy and studied German. I can say 'truck driver' in German and stay up in my head all day while pulling my doubles. Plus, I got a piece of paper in a frame that cost me over $50,000. But hey, I know a lot of 50 cent words.

There's this physical therapy assistant program I was looking at over at the local CC in town. About 70 units of study altogether. Then of course I've also been eyeing BSN programs where one simply gets all the pre-reqs out of the way and starts taking courses for the BS in Nursing itself. Some require an AS in Nursing, others like the nursing programs at various Cal State U's and Texas Tech don't.
Apart from health sciences, I've also been eyeing a bicycle maintenance cert(candy-from-a-baby for me since I already work on them each day) and an airframe/powerplant degree/certification with some helicopter experience/emphasis.
In the meantime, I'm going have to stay mated to the trucking thing until I at least get my pickup paid off and such. Once the bills and debts are way down, then I could make a foray into some part-time trucking, or some strict, 40-hour work to pay the bills and college costs.Big Don Thanks this. -
What are your kids studying in college??? I would put a eye towards financing a family business, if your assets will allow.

As far as a family business, I'm not sure if I'd want to take the risk. Plus, I already have the small rental business and it's pretty darn time consuming in itself. However, it's always good to have options.
(Not sure if you're question was directed at me, but I answered anyway. Lol) -
It was. I meant if they're pursuing hospitality management, buy a hotel, etc...

That said, if I could opt for a hotel desk clerk job, I'd do all I can to get a night shift gig.
Less people to deal with, and generally more chilled out. Day shifts are extremely overrated to me and the fact that more visibility=more scrutiny kind of robs one of all the advantages that might've come with such a shift. Apart from being able to participate in more social functions with normal people at night, the day shift in any job seems far worse than swing or grave will ever be.
This is kind of the same reason I look at the food/beverage delivery driver jobs with some skepticism. Instead of making deliveries in the dead of night with little-to-no people around, you're out there on the front lines maneuvering around both plenty of cars and people!!
I wouldn't say I'm an anti-social, but it's more of the fact that my communications skills are equatable to that of a guy running the comic book shop/ADHD!!
Yep, I'd be labeled as "that freak who drives the soda truck"!!!Big Don Thanks this. -
Kind of like trucking. Something for everybody!Mike2633 and bentstrider83 Thank this. -
The Holliday Inn near the Pittsburgh Airport has a night shift guy, he watches TV and plays Solitaire, I would see him when I was on my way to work at 1am.
G13Tomcat and bentstrider83 Thank this.
