I actually drove for 3 months for an O/O who was leased on the CWS in the 90's myself. That's how I know it's auto freight. I spent many days sitting in Chattanooga in July sweating my ### off waiting while the shipper loaded the whole trailer with seat cushions. The owner was too cheap to fix the AC in the truck.


Ah the 90's, fuel was $.96/ gal in Gary IN and places like Schneider and Dart were paying $.80 mile and Prime trucks were always running the front door. (I believe Prime was paying $.78/ mile)

1.50 is garbage

 

I haul a specialty tanker now on a mostly dedicated route.

 

What 1-2k loads for company drivers? Average length of haul for regional drivers is probably 300-500 miles, OTR 500-600 unless you live in the western 11. As a company driver at Schneider you'd be lucky to get more than 1 1000+ mile load per month unless you're out west.

 

When you don't see what the rates were before maybe it looks good to some people now. $1.50 out of the Chicago market is a complete joke. You could find $2+/mile runs out of Chicago in your sleep 18 months ago

1996 Prime was .79 or % and 76 mph back when everybody talked on the radio. I knew not to trust percentage with them so I took mileage. Still got ripped off from those thieves lol. Not long before choice becomes the same thing.
