That's the other thing when I grease, I wipe everything down when I'm done. Get all the extra grease wiped off

Thing is...I'm not the smartest out there...

But one dentist told me back in the day...

The EASIEST & HARDEST thing to do in small business is record keeping.

Keep track and you get a pulse of the business. Lose track, and you flat-line.

If an O/O keeps good records:

Then hourly rates charged by accountant going thru receipts is decreased, and that accountant can spend more time identifying deductions for you.

Less expensive audits (saves on penalties)

Less out-of-service (more time rolling)

Less time in shop (more time rolling)...assuming shop is competent....lol

Less time chasing unpaid invoices

Less time locating past due bills

Basically, if trucker is not mentally ready to pay attention to basics, then everything else is a moot point.

Grease your truck yourself. Hand grease gun is cheap and so is a box of grease tubes. Speedco and all other lube places only pump a couple pumps of grease where it needed. They don't pump until it starts coming out around say the u joints. You will start having early problems if you rely on shops to grease. You don't want premature kingpin failure either. I have only had 1 u joint go out on my truck in 10 years, knock on wood, and I think that's bc I do all my own maintenance the correct way. I spend 4 hours doing a PM on my truck. I take my time and do it right. Yes I could do it in an hour or so if I hurry, but I like to get all the oil I can out of the pan. I let it drip while I grease and check all major components. Just my .02

Just went to Speedco here in whiteland, in. They couldn't do my oil change because they can't get the oil filters off because the factory put them on too tight. They said it's a common occurrence for new trucks.

So I did everything else for the PM except that. Was gonna get Rotella T5.

You do realize there's more to costs to a business than just what I paid for the oil, right?

Best way to save $$ is to do it yourself. Hopefully you don't screw up, coz if you do, I'll just add the cost of a repair, to the oil change bill...hahaha

It's funny, truckers wants a cheap oil change, but no one wants cheap freight...or expensive motor repair, from the "cheap oil change"
