Yeah I'm probably going to have to end up leasing a truck on with somebody for a while at least until I can find something decent and somewhat consistent to and from PA on my own.

Out of PA there's lots of flatbed stuff to lots of places. Are you in PA or somewhere else? If you're somewhere else why PA?

I'm in South east PA about an hour north of Philly. And there's a lot of flatbed work but it's usually cheap. Unless of course you want to go into NYC but even then most loads are only paying 1000.00 including tolls, and that's usually a whole day ordeal.

Yeah the good freight in PA is out of Pittsburgh. And the rates from Pittsburgh to Philly are pretty great, so Philly must suck pretty hard. Try to see if you can get a one day run out to Pittsburgh and then get a run back. You might discover it's a good lane. Not sure, but definitely worth looking at if you want to be home every other night.

Always look at the whole route as one cycle. Do not get hung up on 'I won't haul that 1$ a mile freight!' when that 1$ a mile freight takes you somewhere you'll get 3$ a mile coming back. I suspect this is how Philly-Pittsburgh is going to be.

That's how everything (flatbed wise) is in eastern PA it seems.

WATCH YOUR BACK WITH TQL !! THEYLL PROMISE YOU ONE THING AND THEN DO SOMETHING ELSE..THEY HAVE PLENTY OF FREIGHT BUT PAY THE CHEAPEST IN THE INDUSTRY..IF YOU ARE OFFERED A RATE OF $600 YOU CAN BET THAT LOAD IS PAYING OVER$1200..I SIGNED A RATE CON FOR $700 AFTER SITTING THERE FOR HOURS I WAS TOLD THE QUALITY OF LOAD WAS REJECTED BUT LATE THAT EVENING THE SHIPPER TOLD ME THEY HAD WORKED THINGS OUT AND I COULD LOAD..I TOOK THE LOAD GOING BY WHAT THE SHIPPER TOLD ME.. TQL AUTOMATICALLY DEDUCTED $100 FROM AGREEMENT BECAUSE THE SHIPPER LOADED ME THAT NIGHT INSTEAD OF THE NEXT MORNING WITHOUT A WORD BEING DISCUSSED WITH ME..I DROVE OVER A HUNDRED MILES TO GET TO THE SHIPPER AND THEN SIT UNTIL AFTER DARK AND NOT THERE WAS NOT ONE OFFER FOR DETENTION OR MY MILEAGE..IT WAS NOT MY FAULT THE SHIPPER DECIDED TO LOAD ME THAT NIGHT,THAT PAID FOR MY DETENTION AND DEADHEAD MILES !!

Ah yes TQL…. The company that hates truckers, says appointment is 10am only to start the day early and get there and find out the appointment is actually 6pm. Thanks for wasting valuable drive time AGAIN. Also the company that knows you picked up a load at 9 in the morning and drove all day, and thinks 11pm-2am are the best time to call and check on your location because truckers shouldn’t be allowed to get any sleep. EVEN though they always make you download their tracking app… If you’re just going to call to check the location, why do i need to waste my data for your tracking app??? And why call if during that call you tell me that your app says i’m near city/state? If you already know, why bother calling to ask? It just doesn’t make any sense to me…

Also forgot to mention how they’ll send more than one truck for the same exact load, where we both had the same pick up/drop off numbers. Caught them doing that multiple times! Or the time the broker called us to try to cancel the load, INSTEAD of our dispatcher who should know first! Guy wasn’t too happy to find out we had already picked up the load lol. We don’t deal with any of the brokers in particular, so never know who we’re gonna get but with as many times as we’ve been screwed over. Bad brokerage has gotta be a company wide thing where unfortunately the bad brokers out number and overshadow the few good ones. We don’t go through them as much as we used to by a long shot! But sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures, and we gotta settle for one load to get to a better one.
