Wheelbase is 248 long enough for a 2+3+2 setup?

Wheelbase has nothing to do with it on s trailer like that. I'm 244" a local company pulls a 9 axle with a 205" tractor.

I'm looking at getting a 2 axle jeep with a 26' well with 10' deck extention with drop sides to haul 637 scrapers level on the deck and a 2 axle stinger. We can take the deck extention out when we are hauling large excavator car bodies. Currently have a Talbert 4 axle dropside 29' deck and a beam insert. Need to move up alot to haul our big scrapers around TN,NC, and VA. Tired of paying big money to move 8 scrapers around to different jobs and Va has been very hard to move in with a straight 4 axle. That is why I was wondering about the 248" glider truck I have found. Thanks for any help or input we are a construction company only moving our own iron not looking to haul for anyone else.

Another ? how do the 385 tires vs 425 make a difference
I understand yellow iron alot better than I do trucks! Forgive my ignorance!
Looking at the loads you guys haul I know I'm at the right place, by the way I have a gray headed driver that has hauled heavy before and is as steady of a guy as you will find I know better than too put a young cowboy in a truck with 650HP!

My 385's are rated at 9370lbs each. So that gives you like 18700 and some change. It's hard to get the full 20k on my axle. The 650 horse isn't what I wouldn't want. It's the twin turbo acert that wasn't nothing to brag on. It's ok once you learn all the quirks, but a single turbo E was just a better more dependable engine. jmo! If your just staying close and you can get 20k on the steer you may want 425's. I just don't see a need to push that much rubber down the road for my needs. Like I said earlier I could run 315's the ones on my lift are rated at 9090 each. And are a lot skinnier.

Wow there's a lot here, ok what is the swing clearance of the neck on the trailer your going to put the jeep under? The wheelbase of the truck is fine, longer than I would want but it's fine. What you need to know is how far up the fifth wheel will slide. I thought you mentioned a 13 axle setup. I haven't hauled a 37 for a long time and when I did we split them, I'm curious how heavy you are on the drives with a 37 on the deck and I guess which direction you haul them?

To me I can't see any advantage to the 425, others might disagree. I had them on my truck originally, the tend to scoot easier when empty on wet roads, they limit your turning radius in some situations, and very few tractors can get 20,000 up there. Plus they ain't cheap. You can get a 315 rated for 10,000 along with an aluminum rim to match. You have to watch though, if you get close to 20,000 up there with the pusher down and then lift it your putting a lot on the front end.

I run 385 on the front with a 18k rated steer axle. That being said - as 4 -2 -3-2 setup, there is never any weight up front except when I am empty and running with the lift axle up. I have 197k on the steer tires and still ok.

Outwest the 315s won't do you much good in TX and NM where they go by tread width and you need 14" or better to get the weight.

Just remember if you are going with a 2-3-2 trailer setup, there isn't enough neck on the jeep or the trailer to load a tridem and heavy steer tractor.

When I load my 2 axle jeep to 40k and am slid as far up as possible- I only get 13k on the steer and 51k on the drive tridem.

As a matter of fact I moving to a heavy 3 axle tractor for this reason.

Also, you are going to be very long with you setup. I am 113' more or less with a 26' well. Adding a deck insert is going to put you over 120' for sure. This is going to most likely push you into needing front and rear escorts (3 in KY) everywhere you go. Also, you will be a superload for permits - cost and time are going to stack up.

I am 79k empty and you will be heavier than that so my guess is you will gross 190-195k.

Going from closed 8 axle to 11/12 axle is a different animal,

So are you just dropping one axle or adding to the back of the trailer/stinger

I am going from a 4 axle tractor to a 3 axle tractor- overall from 11 axles to 10 axles.

Generally speaking, in most states I will actually increase my net weight capacity.

My empty weight will drop to around 75k and my overall length will be under 110' - probably 108'.
Except in the 20k states I should be able to get 18-20k on the steer and 44k on the drives then 44k on the jeep and 60k on the trailer and 40k on the booster(I have a west coast 60/40 evener) for a gross 206/8k and net of 130-133k. This is versus a gross of 13k 51k 40k 60k 40k - 204k and net of 126k

It also makes me legal for western Canada (in the summertime).
