Finally got my own truck

I know this is a public thread, but I did intend to use this for updates and discussion about my beginning journey as an O/O. If you're really interested in discussing the topic of UShip and other alternative sources of freight, and/or partials, a separate thread could me made. I would like to read what comes out of that thread if it were made. It would attract more attention with it's own headline on the forum. Could you do that?

 

Got the Webasto heaters installed last week while I rested at home. They did a fine job.

I tried out the bunk heater Sunday, let it run all day, it really did keep the truck warm. It's not a "full blast" type thing but it's more than adequate. I also let my fridge run, too, batteries did fine the next morning with all that running.

I went and bought a crapload of groceries, filled up my fridge. I thought maybe the fridge was one of those glorified cooler things, so I turned it all the way up. Next morning my lunch meat was just about frozen. I have 2 half-gallons of lactose free milk, jug of OJ, bunch of lunch meat, cheese, spinach leaves, small tub of butter, cottage cheese, and a jar of mayo. It's all kept really nice and cold. Also bought a bunch of dry foods, whole wheat sub buns, case of water, coca cola, etc. My God it's already saving me money. I didn't buy anything from the truck stop today.

I sat Monday, couldn't find a load. Nothing but crap. This morning, found a load Toledo to somewhere in west-central Missouri. $1.60/mi but hey, it is what it is. Quick loading. The only thing is that they loaded 2 different types of things, and the REALLY have stuff was in the nose.

When I scaled it out, I was 12,800 on the steers! Had to move my 5th wheel, and move tandems all the way up just to get it legal.

Not sure where I'm going from here. CHR called my phone, asked if I was interested in going 750 miles to Houston from the same town I'm unloading at in the morning, after she gave me the details, I told her $2100. She came back 20 seconds later and said the most she could do was $1650. lol. Like I'm going to take $2.20/mi into $1/mi land, especially for only 750 mile load.

I'll be out on the road until the 1st of April, then home again for a week, state table tennis tournament gonna be then, and I have a trophy to win...although I'll probably be too out of practice. Oh well.

 

Yeah I wish I knew how to cook. I don't have anything to cook with, no microwave and don't plan on getting one. I know they sell those 12V crock pots, but really, I wouldn't know what to do with it.

As far as Wal Mart, I really avoid going there with a truck. I'm scared someone will come up to me and shout HEY YOU GOTTA MOVE YOU CAINT PARK THERE

but the chicken does sound good, I eat primarily chicken and turkey. Roast chicken sandwiches :drools: but not sure about the soup thing. If I have to drink my food, it's not food, it's a drink. LOL
