Some LTL companies pay 62-74 cpm on line haul. Plus weekends off too. But for most Crappy OTR companies they won't dare pay over 40 cpm. Because in there mind drivers are replaceable. They only look for cheap labor at those places.

Wow I've never heard anyone say that there ready to go back OTR before. But I truly agree 1k per week should be the bare minimum for a cdl holders weekly pay. Got a buddy making abt 400 a wk and also paying high family insurance. And the company he's with had the nerve to say they have great pay,401k, and benifits. In what world is 400 a wk great pay???

Mebane is a newer DC, I told a former cowoker to apply there. But to my knowledge there's a low number of drivers there.

We've had some horrible wait times at Mt P the last month or so. Once we get away to other D.C.'s we do good. Last week had several 8-9hr delays, 20+ trucks waiting on loads. Had a Monday where I got back having used 4hrs and they said they wouldn't have anything until the next day. Slowly picking up, it's that goofy January-February feast or famine time. Still was surprised how good my check was considering.

Menomonie is hiring 10. They are growing our fleet. Adding trucks and drivers. Lots of extra board drivers though. Slip seat 2-3 times a week and a Friday or Saturday start.

but too answer the question on why would someone miss otr. 1st otr has been my whole driving career, 2nd its more laid backed then local. 3rd local freight drivers work like slaves and the most of them aren't paid that great. just like wm you have the best in ltl too. but companies like ups are very hard to land a job like a feeder driver. and no im not talking about ups freight. so theres more to life then sleeping all day and sleeping all day Saturday cause ur dead tired from all week and u get home at 9:30am after working ur 14. 4th otr drivers are a special breed just like local ltl drivers are a special breed

Any of the LTL carriers pay their line drivers that or even more. Why do you think we can't hire the best of the best anymore and only get guys who don't know how to do a pretrip? A lot of companies are paying better than WM these days. Got to look outside of Swift boy.

Yep, but when someone ask you what you make per mile it is what it is. I consider it lying or truck driver math when you add all that other stuff into it. You will make .46 cpm to start and that's your mileage pay.

That's all a lie. Any of the major LTL's are paying in the upper 60's per mile range and close to 30/hr or over. And almost all are hiring for both positions if the service center isn't in a little town. A lot of the drivers passing us with doubles make 90-100k+ a year easily for just doing meet & turns.
