I am betting you are in Columbus, OH. If so, then I know who gave you the test. The problem can be easily overcome by getting your physical elsewhere.

I am going to piss a few of you off, but here goes.

ALMOST everything said here is BS. Utter and absolute BS.

    Do not doctor shop.

DO NOT THINK A DOT PHYSICIAN IS GOING TO SIGN OFF ON ANYTHING UNTIL YOU GO THROUGH THE RIGHT PROCESS.

DO NOT expect to get a CDL for a while. <<<< YOU MAY NOT EVEN QUALIFY FOR A YEAR TO GET YOUR PERMIT.

AND do not LIE. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT LIE.

Your doc, like mine may have signed off on some paper work but there is a lot more to this than that.

YOU have to apply for the exemption, send it to the FMCSA then wait until you are approved before proceeding. NO way around with it when you are type 1.

Go here and read the exemption process.

The medical staff has to follow the laws as well. There's nothing you can do but try another doctor like others have said. But don't be surprised if you get the same results.Let's us know what happens, good luck.

Patty, trying another doc won't solve the issue, he has to apply for the waiver, which means it is out of their hands completely until it is reviewed and then approved. If a doc certifies him for a cdl permit and it is caught, they will lose their certification to do DOT physicals and may on top of that be investigated by the state for falsifying documents going to the state.

That answer is totally wrong, eating a proper diet and avoiding sugar in any form will help, also drink a good amount of water. As a matter of fact, that is the only way to control blood sugar. Go to an endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes, and they can help you get things under control. There are many new insulins and oral meds that can be used, that weren't even available a year ago. If you can't afford the proper meds, most pharmaceutical companies have a "free" program that you can apply for, and your doctor can assist you with the paperwork.
Just put off the school for a month or two, and you should be testing much better. You don't really have any other option to operate safely.

Over time you are correct, but this was meant in the context of doing something about it right now, he is type one, means he doesn't create insulin
