I just signed up with Celadon...got approved in less than 6 hours. I like the idea of using their DM or using the app to find my own loads. I have been a driver for 5 years. Dispatched myself and 2 other drivers at one point.

Like Highway_Executive, I am going to opt for the percentage plan and primarily use the app to find my own loads. Celadon is telling me my breakeven point is $904 per week, WITHOUT FUEL. That includes all fees and insurance. I read this thread completely, and I like the rates he posted from the app. I think this lease will work.

Now, the tough part is going to be getting the truck I want: the basic bumper to bumper warranty only lasts 1 year....so I think I am going to be sitting on that lot awhile waiting for a truck with a lot of the basic warranty still active.

Can lease drivers book loads through ITS (truckstop.com) under the Celadon MC?

    Timeout!

Did recruiting say your break-even point was $904 without picking out a truck yet?

On your last day when you go to permit department they will give you a white paper which list your truck note, fees, maintenance package ect and that gives you a ideal of your break-even point. i'm still new at this but I take whats on that sheet + my wages + my maintenance account + taxes + my "new truck downpayment" and that will split out a number. I take that number / 7 days of the week. That Will tell me how much my truck needs to make per day... anything else is just profit/rainy day ect.
Since their are a lot of variables everyone's will be a little different.

I been asked that several times about the MC. I will read my contract over again tonight and get back to you. Me personally I just book their freight and it works out for me. Once you notice a dedicated $ lane, stay on it. I'm only delivering to 5 states now running a triangle. I also try to do my resets on Wednesday because any fuel you purchase between tuesday-thursday after the BOL cut off date will still be taking out of your settlement that week before Friday's payday.

My bad...I asked Celadon for the amount of the truck payment ($695) plus insurances and other FIXED fees. She told me $904. I just wanted to know what my FIXED costs were at MAX truck payment. Obvious, fuel and maintenance escrow and other VARIABLE expenses will increase that number. She told me at 2500 miles my expenses should end up around $1900/week

Is anyone reading the first pages of this thread? Celadon is a scam and now you two are back and forth talking about how great it is! Either you're dumber than a half of a box of rocks or you're shills for Celadon.
    NEWS FLASH!
    IT'S A BAD DEAL!

I really don't have time to entertain stupidity.

is Celadon the best company out here? Not sure.

Can I make money here? Yes

Is the lease too expensive for me? No

Do I have a back up plan? Yes.

I'm good with managing money, and once again I'm using this as a stepping stone to reposition myself down the road for something else. My business plan is already wrote for the next 10 years is yours?

I think they call it delayed gratification.

"Delayed gratification, or deferredgratification, is the ability to resist the temptation for an immediate reward and wait for a later reward. Generally, delayed gratification is associated with resisting a smaller but more immediate reward in order to receive a larger or more enduring reward later."

What works for me might not work for YOU or anyone else.

Get the pen and paper out.....write down all your expenses at home
and compare them to leasing the truck. If you only break even then the lease is probably not for you.

I tell my money where to go not ask where it went.
