My radio has started lately going low on recieve signal. People talking will be low unless really close. I can key the mic and it will come back for a few minutes, then will notice it has gotten quiet again. This will happen even in area with alot of cb traffic. Is this what's known as channel drift or what would cause this? Thanks

Sounds like a cold solder joint. Very common on these radios, and can be a pita to find when the problem is intermittent.
If you can solder, a good place to start is the 10.24 crystal, the vco area of the board, and tuning cans.
Or find a competent tech..which can be just as big a pita from what I understand...rabbiporkchop, Diesel Dave and bcaudill Thank this. -
Unfortunately, these Galaxies seem to be having lots of problems.

I second the cold solder joint. I had a Galaxy 929 that would receive and transmit one minute and then not the next. When it quit, you could push on the board toward the back with the eraser end of a pencil and it would come back to life.
