Even if some us with older trucks went through with it, you know the other shoe will drop and they'll require emissions retrofits next. First, 6-10k for OnGaurd, then enevitably another 15k for an aftermarket DPF system. Pfffttt...time to move along.

Indy service advisor said he thought it would take at least 8 hours of labor to install. You'd also be mucking about in the trucks computer which never ends well.
From the prices y'all have posted the cheapest retrofitting I would budget for is $4,500. When has any removal come in under budget? My perspective from the cheap seats is it would be better to run the maintenance escrow account down to the smallest number possible and turn the truck back in. Or work out a deal for a new tractor. Whichever way I cut it retrofitting looks like a losing proposition.TennMan Thanks this. -
nor am i a lawyer, LOL.
but to be honest, years ago I never would have thought that Fed Ex could be suid for the things they got sued for. You never know what a court is going to decide.

It's possible, that if pushed, it could come down to whether Schneider can be found to have caused financial damages to several small business owners. Everyone being forced out of Schneider, or forced to buy another truck in order to stay is suffering financial damages.
There could be "one" email floating around in someone's inbox where Schneider told them that a truck they were buying would be just fine for the program, and they would be grandfathered in to any future changes as long as the truck could pass a DOT inspection and communicate with a qualcomm. Is that email out there, and how recent is it? -

18 pages already for the stupid on-guard?
Here's what's going on...
Schneider wants to make it more difficult to bring on your own truck thus make APPEAR more appealing to flease one of their overpriced trucks.
Anddddd they can play that card because the demand to haul the cheap freight here is still monumental!
Case closed, end of story.
Sipesh and milehunter43 Thank this. -

It doesn't matter who started the topic -
If a case was made that an "employee" was forced to pay out of pocket for this sort of thing then there would be damages. But if you're an "independent contractor" you're SOL IMO.
They aren't putting a gun to your head forcing you to haul their freight. The only way Schneider will "pay for it" is if people start refusing to haul their freight. -

The lawsuit waiting to happen is when a "business owner" plows over a minivan full of kids on the way to soccer practice while booking freight. We know this is going on, SNI knows it's going on and oddly enough they create cell apps and mobile alerts that promote it. You can't make this stuff up.
Instead of hiring well qualified owner operators, it's more profitable to hire anyone with 6 months to a year OTR experience who is willing to lease a new truck.
It is what it is and I guess they are fully within their rights. Somehow I have a feeling I am going to be much better off getting out of here. At least I'm motivated now.
