It was never latched . Latch is in the open position . Driver must have got in a hurry ?
-
Real dumb thing , is the guy filming chose to pass the thing. Any person with a functioning brain would not want to be anywhere near that thing!
MACK E-6, Bean Jr., 98989 and 1 other person Thank this. -
hm if it is hook only without chains it would be safer in this case, trailer would stay behind and that idiot would realize, but anyway too slow too difficult to attach, and not safe ride ( not linear drag when steering) ringfeder/rockinger cost 450-500€

When hooked properly a pintle hook is not only safe, but very fast to hook and unhook. -
They do not just come unlatched .
Oxbow, Bean Jr. and spyder7723 Thank this. -
I'm still hoping that one day we here in the US will be able to get trucks from Europe.

I seen a gravel truck lose the whole rear crossmember the pintle was hooked to. Safety chains are attached to said crossmember. When it came apart, the wagon went squirly all over the road while the park brakes applied. Very odd, one in a billion scenario but the point is those chains are going to prevent that trailer from crossing lanes and killing someone.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Will have to say , that is the straightens pulling FedEx set I have seen in some time ! When time to stop , is when it will get wild .
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Just noticed the pigtail pulled out. That's not safe
