Because in many states it's illegal, and very unsafe

I don't break laws and we'll just have to agree to disagree about how safe it is.

The one time a drunk comes to the offramp and slams into your ### end and you end up in jail because you wasnt supposed to be on the ramp will cure you

I told you I don't park illegally. With that said there's not much you can do about a drunk. I don't park in unsafe situations either. If I've got a quarter mile long ramp with a stop sign at the end which they all have; by the time a car reaches my bumper they should be doing less than 5mph. On the other side parked at the top when they pass me they'll be doing less than 10mph accelerating. Where it's illegal I don't do it. Where I'm parked tonight Colorado even put a garbage can on the ramp for my convenience. Life is good

Like Gunner has stated, most states it's illegal to park on ramps unless broke down
More and more companies are making it an automatic firing to park on ramp or shoulder with out a valid reason. Like broke down, not taking your 10 break
Would love the look on your face the day the shoulder gives way and your trk is sleeping on it's side.

    Gunner75 Thanks this.

Parked up for the night on a ramp or side of the road....bad idea. I've got stories as I'm sure alot of the old hands do. Find out for yourself.

Back in the day, if we saw a driver sleeping over the wheel in a truck stop, other drivers were inclined to pull directly in front of their truck with the bright lights on and at just the proper moment, lay on the air horn.
