Actually, a few days ago chain law was up from Vail to Morrison Rd on I-70, the 178 to the 259. Stayed like that for several hours.

Actually, I know a couple of tanker companies with auto chains on the trailer and the tractor, see them on I-70 from time to time.

I have no problem showing someone how to chain up but, On My truck. And supervise theirs. Some folks will do it just to get you to do it for them.

Okay, if you can post a video of what you mean by this statement I am interested. I can mentally figure out how this MIGHT be done, but not without the THWAK! THWAK! THWAK! of a chain novice that didn't get his chains tightened properly.

One of the items I carried as part of equipment is a few 6X6 blocks. about 20 inches long. Depending on the location, I could set them out on the inside tire for the truck and trailer, pull up on them, then hang iron. No need to roll to get chains on. still have to check them in a few miles to make sure they stay tight, but was quick and easy.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Uh. Hello. You have to roll onto the blocks. And rolling up onto 4 inch blocks of wood can be easier said then done on snow/ice, especillay if you're needing to chain 3 or more axles. However, this method works great in a heated and enclosed garage on a concrete floor.

I think he means you just need a gap without a cross chain equal to the size of your tires contact patch (if that makes any sense lol). Once you get them on and not spinning anymore you can roll forward and tighten.

    Oxbow and Lepton1 Thank this.

That's all well and good if you have extra long rubber arms [and named Gumby] and love to get wet and dirty.

I've never really had a problem. Maybe you're arms are too short and your belly too big?. As for getting dirty, well farming and flatbeds took that worry away long ago.
