That's because he is way beyond that point. Oil sampling is meant as preventative maintenance at best, alot of the time it is flawed and misses things. This guy has a engine knock, easily diagnosed by any mechanic worth Thier weight.

Knowing that will narrow down where the problem is. -
It's a 871, it's soot.... Lots and lots of soot. It's going to turn out that his emission system has not been properly maintained and the engines been running extra dirty causing carbon packing and is taking out his motor.
At least that's my guess, but hey..... why not do a sample, I guess it's only like 20 bucks and it'll tell a guy if there is excessive soot.Andreybanyuk and daf105paccar Thank this. -

Update 3/3/17 Cummins found 2 leaking injectors and replaced them under warranty. Seems to be running smooth now.
