I understand but out of habit because this is a business thing to me, I go with a company who provides those nav units to the military, airlines and even farmers and who actually builds them since they became accessible to the civilian market.

RM stands behind any product they sell. You are looking a company based upon longevity.
If you like Garmin, then more power to you. As it has been stated many times by others, you have the ones who are diehard Garmin fans and you have Rand McNally diehard fans.
enough said on this I think...

Do did answer any of his questions.
Of course the reset puts it back to factory defaults but dose that include putting it back to the map data it had when bought or will it keep the last map it was updated to? Will he be able to get lifetime factory maps? -
Used from someone online. Will I get lifetime updates on a second hand unit.

Let me very clear about this. The Reset button does not and I will mention it again, it DOES NOT put the unit back to factory condition. It is like a soft boot on a computer. All it does is restart the device without using the power button.
If you are buying off of EBay, I would strongly and I mention strongly be aware of what you are getting. I just had someone buy an T5C off of EBay to come to find out that it was a Test Unit used by Beta Testers. How did I know? I found my labels on the back from 5 years ago and it had a Demo Lic. The T5C has maps that are about 5 years out of date and are not supported with LTM's.
If you are not buying a 520/530/720/730 off of this "deal" then I would not spend the money on the earlier models. LTM's are not really supported on the older models.
It all depends on the model if you will be supported with LTM's or not. I need the model number.
Again, setting it back to factory settings is not hard. You just need to delete the user files and "fake" the Dock to download the latest maps for the model you are thinking of buying.
Again, Buyer Beware of used units off of EBay or private persons buying online.
You have enough posts. Start a "Conversation" with me and send me the link to the unit you are thinking of buying.
MarkLGarrison Thanks this.
