I believe it that you're gonna spend a lot of money cuz I'm already doing that now. Unless I find a great company to work for it'll change my mind.

Oh you know it that's why everybody is coming from overseas flooding Market. That is why we as real drivers have to find our niche. What you find what you really good at and what you enjoy that specialize in it. I like you also would like to start a small business nothing big 8 trucks farther down the road. However i enjoy the hell out of driving once I get established and get running I would find driving for the next 35 years. Even though I know we all make mistakes I'm just trying to cover all my bases get my ducks in a row and make sure I do it right the first time to the best of my ability. Even though there is a lot of money to be made you can sure find yourself upside down real quick

Exactly. It may cost a lot down the road but where I live, Chicago, I got a lot of strings I can pull. I know someone with 8 trucks pulling containers making well over 1 million. Need to take advantage especially since we're both young. Been around this #### longer than most "rookies".

Join ooida. They have info that shows step by step process to getting ur own authority. They also have spreadsheet info on figuring costs to operate. Research, research, then more research. Once you go from company driver to owner you must learn how to run a profitable business. Driving is the easiest part.

Brother that's awesome to hear! I'm in Dallas and freight is closer to the ground than a snakes ### price wise. I gotta go to your turf to get decent rates.
I'm with you on the "rookie" label. I have done things in trucks most seasoned guys havent...my dad taught me little courtesis that today's steering wheel holders don't even attempt to learn... sad really

Does it cost anything to hold your own authority to save your name until you have everything ready to purchase and operate?

The insurance for somebody your age for a new venture would be astronomical, if you could even find someone to write that policy. $20-25k/yr probably.

You have 12 months to get it activated or you'll have to pay another 300 for a new number.
