Agreed. Would be off the charts expensive. Check into this before you even think of applying for a number. Might save yourself 300.

Can anyone here help me out. I'm a new venture. I want to get loads from wakefern, I've heard they pay pretty good. How do I go about it? What are the requirements and who should I speak to? I tried calling in and I keep getting transferred everywhere and then I get an answer machine. Just need to be pointed in the right direction lol. If anyone can help my email is Jsalas3010@yahoo.com and thanks in advance.

I'd say don't worry about having a new mc#. We all start somewhere. That being said, you can start off the boards for finding work. Over time you should develop some ongoing business relationships and have steady lanes you run. Running completely wild as a 1 truck show is very difficult since you are always the new guy. Never over promise on something you know can't be done. Promise exactly what you can do and do exactly what you promise. Start out with a paid for older truck if you can. Insurance will be less and a large payment will always be creeping up on you until you have ample good paying work. Above all be professional. Don't try to be the cheapest guy out there. I'd even say sign on under a % company to learn what lanes pay what rates. Without that knowledge you stand to leave A LOT of money on the table. Figure out how you will buy fuel at a good price and use your brain...it will save you thousands. Keep us posted..
