You are thinking correctly from what I've read and heard.

I get the impression that it's average or a little below...but it's also a starter company, and as with most mega carriers they offer a lease purchase program to drivers out of the gate. That's where you could really get burned.

If have not done it yet don't do I am a current lease purchase driver, unless you have a ton of money saved, quality is a pain to deal with if you have any mechanical issues, they wont even answer the phone, celedons planners are always changing your apt times on you,and dm dont care if you have any problems, they wont answer the phone either,I am going back to Superserviceto be a company driver again at least I got home every weekend and bought home a 1000 every week

You know where the money's at?
Small unknown companies with 10- 15 trucks. Brand new trucks, brand new trailers, 2 or three dispatchers, plenty of miles. You can keep the well known carriers, give me a small, obscure carrier any day.

I've been saying that for years. Too bad history shows people don't listen.
I understand Insurance Companies are playing a slightly bigger role in the experience vs. hire ability aspect of this industry than they were when I started my first OTR job over a quarter century ago...but I started at a small company right out of trucking school....and if a person was interested in putting in the time and effort, I guarantee it is still possible today.
Problem is; the small companies don't come talk to you at school...so lazy people find it easiest just to sign on with a large company because the recruiter is standing right there.
