Do you guys prefer grill guards? Is the extra weight worth it the protection?

i like the big moose bumpers i think they look good and the added protection would be a good thing, however i don't like the pricetag, i have been waiting to put one on my truck, my hood is pretty stone chipped up so iv been waiting to clobber a deer get my hood re-done on the insurance company and then put one on the truck.

What are you worried about hitting that might mangle your radiator / engine?

OTR guy or are you Texas local (only an example - didn't see your location on profile)?

'Cause I wouldn't worry about an armadillo, rattlesnakes or the countless stray domestics... But as @Ezrider_48501 alludes to 'Moose....' that's a legit concern in my locality. Bear might be another one to be wary of around here.

    Oldironfan and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

    I see.
I almost got one 4 nights ago. Saw an approaching pickup slow then shoulder his vehicle. About 100 feet past him there was a deer scrabbling for footing in the middle of the road. Not sure who hit who, but timing was on my side that night.

I cannot wait for someone to put one on the 2018 "New Cascadia" just hitting the dealerships now. They spent millions to make it as aerodynamic as possible. A moose is going to total one of them...

They may add some aesthetics too.
I killed at least 5 animals and twice the damage was severe. Ever since I put the guard, animals stay out of my way.

I don't #### around. $6000CDN for this herd super road train but it's paid for itself 5x already.

I run Alberta and there's a decent number of deer and moose. I've hit 5 deer with this thing and I don't even bother stopping anymore because there's nothing ever wrong, just blood and #### stains when I come barreling down a hill doing 70 with 140,000 and Bambi decides to step in front of this Bambi basher!

I had a bird fly through my grille and take out my CAC.

Not only do I now put these super road Trains on every truck, I won't buy a truck that thy don't make one for because all the fuel mileage savinga in the world doesn't help 30k in lost revenue and a insurance claim.
