HAHAHAH no sir. NO way can I touch lumber. Long miles is my goal man. Coast to coast.

I am no longer at 60 percent currently at 40 percent but I get full benefits so its alright.

Blows my mind how truckers think brokers can get 20 percent. I wish I saw 20 percent. Today I barely averaged 6 percent all day. I underestimated the market. Had 2 drivers no show and had to recover for losses.

Isn't Amazon designing a computer based truckload brokerage system?
I read about it a few months ago in Wall Street Journal, supposedly matches trucks to freight for 5%, with real time availability and planning.

In 95% of the times when you call on a posted load, brokers get you an extra 10-20% on top of their offering price simply just for asking. That leads to an assumption that they offer 65-70% of what the customer is paying, then get you another 10% and keep 20-25% profit.
At 8am broker offers $900 on 600 miles and at noon he already offers $1200, cause nobody wants to move it. I see it all the time, so I am not sure why are you surprised.

I have noticed you have very strong opinions and post a lot. Don't mean to be arrogant but could you show me proof of those numbers sir.

People try to use all kinds of strategies to get loads covered. Lots of older shops have old school ideas about what profit margins should be. They are slowly dying out.

I edited my post just before you replied, added another sentence to it.
I guess when I call on a load I can add you to a 3-way call to see how an usual conversation goes, but I am not sure on your question. What numbers should I prove you and how can I do that?

These brokers are trying to make sure they don't miss the truck that will run the load super cheap. When I have tons of time to get something covered and own the freight I do the same thing. Just because they HOPE they can make a bunch of money doesn't mean they will. If they start the day at 900 and are at 1200 by noon you can bet 1200 was always what they expected it to cover for.

My question is how you think brokers make 20 percent?

I have about 45 brokers I talk to that I have met over the years and several customers who I know what they pay when I submit an RFQ.

Just because they lowball you doesn't mean they move it at that.

The lowball works here and there when they find a newbie driver and he takes a load without due diligence.

You can believe me or not but I ALWAYS POST A RATE when I post a load out. I don't do the whole argue and nickel and dime. I post ONE rate and NEVER negioate because it's a fair rate.

Today I barely made 6 percent or something like that. Paid Boston to Seattle 4800. I had 4835 in it. Plus few other loads.

It's funny how brokers have such a bad rep but no one ever mentions how often truckers do the whole "Load got rejected so can't do it " or "did you say it's 40k weight sorry I only do 35". Or my favorite "dispatcher booked me on a load before I called you sorry".

All these drivers bailing screws brokers over and make them take losses so they have no choice but to recoup those losses by starting with LOWBall offers.
