You sir, would be 100% correct. Flip axle sat in the shop for a while, I tried getting them to bend straight, then gave up. I'll pull them off when I get a chance and set some blocks on them.

Anyone else have any experience with Felling trailers? I've used a lot of tag/skid/5er of theirs but this is the first lowboy I've used. From what I can tell they are very similar to a Trail King, but I've never used one, only worked on them. What I can say though, is that this trailer is amazing compared to the beat Dynaweld that I use on occasion.

 

Correct, except I grab it in the middle so it's about 12 ft otherwise I'd have a ton of slack on the other end, but yes.
Trailer rail > Binder > 10ft chain > 4ft chain > eyelet on carbody. I just do this to elimate the need of 10ft chains with all kinds of different hooks. This way I know a 10ft is a 10ft is a 10ft.

 

Honestly, I just noticed that too. I took a quick look at the bumper law and it says 22". Using the 22.5" rims for a reference, it sure looks close to 22" to the main frame of the trailer and the flip. I'll have to take a tape measure to it and check.

 

Makes sense. Don't see any reason that would be a problem.

I've gotten to the point that all of my chains only have one hook now. I keep a box with hooks and pins so I can put them on as needed. I mostly only use 3/8" chains though. I run into a lot of spots where I only need the one hook or need to thread the chain through holes in the piece I'm hauling and hooks wouldn't fit.

I did remove the hooks from one end of the 4 1/2" I carry as well. Need to find some big hair pins for them tomorrow to make removal easier. Its a pain to bend cotter pins every time.

 

Was just wondering. Both my TrailKing and XL 35ton mechanicals and their respective flips have bumpers.

 

By the way @SnowMan24, that is a good looking T800. I wish my old T8 had that extended cab with the high roof. Was a bit cramped in mine. Had the flat back and roof.

 

That's what I was doing, but then I would grab a chain, drag it to the back of trailer, throw it over the boom, walk to the other side, no hook #$&@^$%!!!! So now all my 10 ft chains in the box are all the same, and use the shorter chains in the neck to either thread through or grab an eyelet.

I also wrapped two 10 footers around the brush rake lugs on the blade of the D6H, but then I needed a little more to reach so I added int the 4 footers. I would much rather do this than to have to throw around 20 footers.

 

Yea the 4 1/2" I picked up recently are 20 footers. I'm probably going to cut them down to and then do similar to how you are. I might go with midlinks instead though because some of the freight I use them on needs them to lay flat on the piece. Can't have the bottom of the hook making a pressure point that could cause damage.

 

Thanks a lot, I really enjoy driving it, even though I'm a Pete guy. The owner wants to get full fenders all the way around, which I'm all for, but he wants to stay with stainless. I'm trying to talk him into 6 individual plastic fenders in red to match the hood. We take this into job sites, fields, and rail yards all the time, I would much rather have the forgiveness of the poly fenders.

 

I used to work on a lot of XL mechanicals and if I remember correctly, they really didn't have much height to the rear section, basically just enough space to install lights.
