I'd say it's rather easy to believe. How many people have you seen that their company has a limited rider program, or no program? At the same time, how many drivers for those companies have you seen that have the rider or pet with them?

Why is the rookie uninsured? Why did you not provide insurance? Is this a owner operator leased or running authority as your brokerage?

    This will be interesting.

I'll look forward to hearing from the rookie as to why he ignored the signs that told him the dam bridge is not 13.6 People learn to count in Kindergarden and tell time. But all that is thrown away in trucking school in favor of one number 13.6.

I had a couple drivers tried to pull this crap. I always caught them. People talk. Shippers, receivers, the drivers and even whoever is riding with them. I got smarter and pulled the jump seat out of every truck. No one wants to ride 500 miles on a bucket! Most drivers are good enough to ask before they just do. Whether the op knew or didn't know doesn't amount to a whole lot. He's still in a real bind.

His driver let a buddy drive without permission from the op. The "buddy" topped it, not his driver. Personally i would put the screws to the driver who let his buddy drive. Especially if you had him sign anything stating he or other employees are the only ones allowed to drive.

Why are you asking here, get a lawyer and have them deal with it. I will be very surprised that your insurance will pay a dime,

We have had drivers hit bridges and sit crying a few minutes over a smoke and tell me a sob story about how they are being made to pay for every penny of the damage in addition to being fired.

I learned not to sit and smoke with drivers who obviously are in trouble with the company. But I will take a shot at it here.

I think your next call needs to be to an Attorney and see what they advise.

Maybe the OP can rent his truck to the thousands wanting a CDL but not wanting to go to school.

I don't understand why people come on here and ask these questions.

How about you pick up the phone and call your ins. co.?

    Is this really that difficult?

Lepton1, misterG, Hurst and 12 others Thank this.
