Forcing the rest of the industry on elogs doesn't affect the level of competence of the megas drivers. Sorry man, not trying to be obtuse but I'm not understanding what you are trying to say.

You have a real reading problem. Told you 1000 times I don;t want the hassle and cost. Told you 1000 times it's about corruption and that pi$$es me off. Haven't had a log violation EVER. Haven't had an at fault wreck EVER.

The laws have changed though, and I wasn't real fond of them back in the eighties. I can abide by most of it, but the 14 hour deal, and the 70 hour in eight days drives me nuts. Actually, I'm not OTR anymore so the 70 in 8 doesn't affect me now, but the 14 hour clock is a pain in the ###.

I know, I'm off topic here because this is about ELOGs, not HOS. I'll go back to my corner now - sorry gents!

No, I read just fine. I can see the argument is crony capitalism. I also agree that it will not improve safety. I do not think it's the end of the world though. I also don't believe it's the Mega's that brought this on. I think it is the one's who refused to run legal. On the mentality that they can turn more loads. I for one hope that mentality leaves the industry. They have done nothing but hurt the rest of us. YOU included. I suppose you can look at the glass half empty or half full.

They thrive on being able to offer capacity and large drop and hook trailer pools. A lot of folks state the megas make a ton of money pulling cheap freight but that's simply not true. Every variety must declare their miles traveled (think it's the mcs-150 form but been several years since i had to fill that or so could be mistaken on the form name) and every publicly traded company has to declare their gross earnings (along with other financial information but we just need the earnings for this) simple may shows they average a rate most owner ops/small carriers never see. So if the math says us express averaged 2.27 a mile and every day guys are on here saying they averaged a buck sixty....who is the cheap freight hauler?

Disclaimer: i have no idea what usx averaged or even if they are a publicly traded company. I simply used them as an example of a mega. But the info is there for anyone that wants to look.

+1. HOS that was unsafe in 2013 is now safe in 2017. They don't have a clue. I'll put my driving record and inspection record up against any E-logger.

I would like to see the 70/8 go away. The 14 I can take or leave. The 30 min break is a total joke.

The 70 has always been there. The 14 is relatively new and it sucks. It's completely inflexible, which is why i say we, as an industry, need to refocus the conversation on making hos flexible.

You can also look at the avg earnings vs. number of trucks. Most Mega's are around 300k per truck. They aren't the problem. Uneducated truck owners are the problem.
