His wife and family are holding up as good as they can. Abilene, without any hesitation, took care of all the arrangements to get our brother home to NC for his final resting spot.

A close friend of mine is an Lt in the NYPD highway patrol, and he said that companies like FedEx and UPS rack up parking ticket fines that runs into the millions every year. He said they don't pay each one at face value. At the end of the year they pay them all as a discounted lump sum. It's cheaper for the city to just collect one large payment rather 10s of thousands of tiny ones.

Am I the only one that feels the way they turned these trucks up is totally assinine?

No, you're not alone on that. I hardly ever use my cruise, so it doesn't make sense to me to be able to go faster using it. What are they turning them up to? 69 on the foot, 71 or 72 on cruise? I don't know because mine hasn't been done yet. It's sitting at home with dead batteries. I'll have to charge them up whenever I get ready to head back out. Don't the KWs have to go to the dealer to have them done? I think they might have been doing it the opposite way.

No way. It's way better to have the cruise speed higher. Of course, I suppose it would depend on where you drive the most. My truck is set at 69 on both. It used to be 72 on both.

My assumption, based on the fuel and mileage data down near the Safety office, is that they're trying to encourage us to use cruise. High-percentage cruise use is listed in green, while low-percentage (or no-percentage in my case) is listed in red. So presumably they like it more when we use cruise.

This has been a low-mileage week for me. Next paycheck is gonna be weak. Truck has spent two (non-consecutive) days in the shop, and when they've run me, it's been short hops. I had to abandon the load they gave me today because my truck wasn't going to be out of the shop by the latest departure time. Talked to Alan, we agreed that I'd just take a day off. This is the 2nd one in a row.

Sucks, but the bad days are the rent you pay for the good days. And my days have been mostly good here at Abilene, so I don't see much reason to grouse.

On my truck if i am going 69 on the pedal the cruise speed wont increase until i release the pedal. Takes a little getting used to.

The higher speed on cruise did allow me a 754 mile shift last week though.

Of concern to me is what happens if you have a steer tire blow out while on cruise. If you come off cruise, or are running full out on cruise, then you could lose control rather quickly. I'd rather have more on the foot and less on cruise, but I suppose I get their reasoning. I don't run foot to the floor all the time anyway, but you have some that do. That doesn't leave you any room for rut-roh moments IMO.

Those high mileage days are awesome. My highest, with a 67 mph truck was 719.

So many wrinkles have happened in the last couple of days that my head is practically spinning. We finally got away from that horrible hospital yesterday around 5 pm. Let's just say I had to really be an azzhat for 2 days to get anything done. We thought about signing out AMA, but if you do that, you are responsible for the entire hospital bill, and we don't have a couple hundred thousand laying around

My mother isn't doing well. The foot is not the problem, or at least it seems to be healing ok. She's so very weak, hasn't been able to eat, can't really tolerate any liquids, and cannot use the bathroom at all. Shes seen a Gastro doctor & a nephrologist (kidney) doctor, but nobody seems to be doing anything about these issues. I'm afraid she's going to get septic if this goes on much longer.

I'm so frustrated and a little overwhelmed at the moment. I'm trying to be optimistic, but if I stop and think, I get really upset. I wish she just hadn't had this surgery. At least if something happens, God forbid, she will be admitted to Sentara Obici, which is a much better place.
