And I've personally seen stock radio's come out of the box at 75-80% hence my above statement. But you have to agree that even though the manufacturer recommends this procedure it is still altering the radio from it's "stock" form that it left the factory. And most drivers if they don't have a shop setup their new radio will never touch the inside. Therefore it is still producing less than 100% modulation.

clipping a few hundred Hertz off the bottom end and adding a thousand Hertz to the top end makes a huge difference In how far your signal will be heard. -

Most people have not experienced listening to a stock Cobra 29 from 30 miles away out of a tractor-trailer on Factory Antennas with an original Road King microphone. It kind of seemed like right out of the box with an RK56 those were the ones that I heard the furthest as opposed to ones that were tampered with by the majority of technicians out there

Keep In mind that altering the frequency response of a radio also Alters the response of the receiver as well drastically changing what the receiver is capable of hearing.
