Suprised more companies don't offer reefer LTL.
A lot of customers are limited because no one provides 100 percent reefer LTL.

Customer once asked me to do 1 pick 27 drops I said NO THANK YOU. Started in Seattle ended in Newark. He offered 12000 for it but I couldn't find anyone

Leonard's express tried to do 100 percent LTL out of Buffalo and failed bad. Very hard to do.

The point is that I feel I need to net $100,000, profit, to myself for the year to be satisfied with the risk.

So far I'm on track to profit about 65k if the market stays the same. But I'm trying to get it good now so that I can make even more when the markets get better. This is the standard I've set for myself. But even if I do reach it, still have to pay income taxes and all that bs. If I had hired someone to drive my truck I'd be taking a slight loss so far. At $100k net to the truck, I'd make like 20-25k profit before taxes. Employing someone is expensive. Unless you hire crap people on a 1099. I wouldn't go that route. I have a high standard high quality mentality.

I've thought about reefer but not going that route yet. Gimme time to get comfortable with what I'm doing now. A friend I talk to from ttr said 1.5 years then I can try out reefer. Still a learning curve with that as well.

Heading out of white pine and going to PA.

I'll be listening to college basketball. Did anyone fill out a bracket?? I have every year since I was 12. GO BLUE! And go Sparty as well! And Wichita State! Nothing gets me pumped up more than that CBS Sports NCAA tournament theme song. Dadada dot dot dahhh dah dahhh!

I picked Villanova to repeat, over UCLA for the title.

I want to be clear about something, I am rooting for boywonder as well, I'm just presenting the fact that he is doing this the HARD WAY. High overhead just starting out kills a lot of new O/O's. Even though he is young and single and can live in the truck for 8-10weeks at a time, he has a serious uphill battle.

When / If he makes it through his journey, he can look back and say, I did it even though most thought I couldn't / or dang these guys are right, and I should have done it differently. I just wanted to spark a conversation that could effectively help boywonder and any and every person thinking about making the transition to O/O.

The reefer freight is coming out of Wis going to NE CT RI NY NY Philly PA around 1000 miles 4 to 7 stops the reason 4 dollar a mile you have to work there is no free rides and be on time. The back hauls are around 1.20 to 1.40 a mile tell me you can make money doing this. But every one has a choice I hate the east coast and would never run there but my friends are killing it doing one round a week. But with that I'm out of here and only wish the best for OP and never hire anyone to drive you truck you will go broke

If more people start doing tanker work, your rates will drop too. The same happened to flats and step decks, lots of people switched and their rates have dropped.

I made about $70k on my first year before non trucking buissness deductions. I'm on track for the $100 this year before non trucking buissness. I spent $18k in truck only repairs last year and $6000.00 in payments plus my trailer stuff. I am battling with buying new or rebuilding a motor this year. His expenditures are not that diffrent than mine even though he has a new truck.
